John Kennedy - The Impact of losing a father The Quarterback DadCast

    • Self-Improvement

As you've seen, Season 3 is dedicated to my father, Mike Jacox, who passed away late in 2021. I Love and miss you, Dad.

Today, we get the opportunity to speak with John Kennedy, the Co-founder of Candorpath, a financial services company based in Orlando, Florida.  Unfortunately, John and I share the experience of losing a father in our lives.  John lost his dad when he was 24 years old, and I lost mine at 45 years old.  Regardless of the age, it still is very tough, but talking with John was therapeutic in many ways.

John has younger children (ages 5 & 2) and explains how he appreciates the time he gets with his kids. Honestly, one of the blessings of Covid, as many of us are working from home still.  Growing up, John was a huge Atlanta Braves baseball fan and a Notre Dame Football fan, given his father's influence.

In this episode, we talk about many great topics from being present, both emotionally and physically.  We explored the thought of not worrying about things you can't control, and lastly, being busy is not an excuse not to be with your family.

Towards the end of this episode, John reminds us that kids always watch what we do and what we say.  As a fan of Atomic Habits, he reminds us that small habits don't add up; they compound!
