Joshua 5 Lessons from Joshua Battle Ready with Missy Armstrong

    • Christianity

Joshua, the son of Nun, began his ministry for God as the servant, or minister, of Moses, and although he was overshadowed by the great patriarch, he functioned happily in the role which God had designed for him. Joshua, in his willingness to play ‘second fiddle’, showed his true strength of character, for before one can rule well, one must know how to serve well. When the time came for him to become the leader of Israel, he showed himself to be a great soldier and diplomat. He showed, however, not only the valour of a warrior, but the justice, gentleness, forbearance and humility of a great ruler. Probably the most outstanding characteristic of his life is his unselfishness. It was his utter indifference to all selfish considerations that marked him out as being what someone described as a ‘soldier-saint’.
