Julie Powell's Career Pivot: From HR Director to Vintner w/host Howie Outerbridge From The Peak

    • Business

So...you've always wanted to quit your day job and buy a vineyard?

In this episode, Julie Powell talks about her journey, and shares reflections from what she has learned over the last 5 years running Alderlea Vineyard.

Alderlea Vineyards is one of Vancouver Island’s oldest and most respected vineyards, nestled in the Cowichan Valley, near Duncan on Vancouver Island. The estate-grown grapes produce a mix of dry white wines including Bacchus, Pinot Gris and Sauvignon Blanc. Red wines comprise Pinot Noir, Clarinet made from old vine Marechal Foch, Merlot, and a Cabernet Foch blend known as Matrix.

The character and style of Alderlea wines are a product of the geographic location, grape varietal characteristics, and winemaking techniques employed. Alderlea whites are made in stainless steel tanks using extended lees contact, resulting in wines that are dry, crisp, clean, and aromatic. The reds are barrel-aged, fruit-forward, balanced, and bold. All Alderlea wines pair exceptionally well with food, particularly our local west coast cuisine.

Award-winning Alderlea wines are available at our Wine Shop and at the following locations: Restaurants and Liquor Stores.
