Junor Francis and Eric Kohler: LA's Ambassadors of SKA Bakotunes

    • Music Interviews

Bakotunes welcomes longtime LA ska and reggae music brethren Junor Francis, host of Reggae Connection (KSPC, Clairmont College) and The Reggae Show (KLXU), and Eric Kohler (Goldenvoice, Reggae Nucleus Magazine.)

Junor Francis:
After discovering his love for ska and rocksteady music by transistor radio as a youth in the lush Farm District of Manchester Parish, Jamaica, Junor Francis packed his bags landing in New York with hopes of one day breaking into radio. After grinding his way through east coast life, he found his way to the sunny LA radio airwaves to begin a respectable career spanning nearly four decades. Still heard around the globe, he's become one of reggae and ska radio's most recognized and respected figures.

Eric Kohler:
A true eighties kid, Eric Kohler's affinity for live music has taken him from the independent publishing arena as the co-founder of reggae music magazine, Reggae Nucleus to the concert music industry working at LA show and mega fest promoters, Goldenvoice. In between his busy work and home life, Eric has also been instrumental in contributing to the growth of the ska and reggae legends scene, co-producing shows featuring classic Jamaican artists and up-and-coming artists.

Junor and Eric also host their own Web and audio podcast, "The History of LA SKA: One on One Sessions," available on Youtube, and your favorite podcast listening outlets.
