So many inspiring podcasts out there allow us to hear all about how well-established stars got to where they are today. But those actors are so faaaaaaar away from where so many of us are today! Wouldn’t it be great to hear from the guy who just booked his first pilot? Or the kid finally doing a studio pic after a bunch of low budget indies? Or the woman who’s been a series regular a few times but is only now becoming a name? What about the guy who’s been on a show for years and you know his face but what’shisnameagain? Or that actress who is now a freakin’ showrunner???? How’d THEY do it, right? How did they transition from relative obscurity, bartending and bottle service, to buying that house in the hills?
We’re producing “Kahnversations,” a podcast that provides access to THOSE people -- your immediate predecessors -- so that you can learn from them while their battle scars are still fresh.
In “Kahnversations,” our own Ryan Bailey interviews some of Lesly Kahn & Company’s working actors, directors, and writers in order to learn how they got started in Hollywood, the challenges and hurdles they faced, and how they overcame the odds. (They also dish out some crazy stories!) Listen in and enjoy as these entertainers speak candidly about their paths, processes, and experiences. You might even hear a bit about how Lesly and the Kahnstitute have influenced and shaped their careers.

Love (with a couple of adjustments!)

Love this so far! But agree with a couple other people’s thoughts- the sound is often distracting (eg in the most recent episode, the guest sounds like he’s whispering and the host is super loud so I was constantly turning it up and down) and also there’s a lot of non-listening/talking over guests by the host (I honestly feel like this with most podcasts I listen to though- someone always needs to dominate and ends up not truly listening and finishing the person’s sentences which is kind of annoying and rude really).
But other than that lol- it’s always so great hearing people’s journeys in this career from their beginning up until now, and being reminded time and time again how important it is to fully dedicate yourself and apply. That’s for sure the running theme- hard work and hustling daily pays off in the long game! :)

The best podcast for actors!!

An actor's journey can be a lonely, confusing, and difficult path with many unforeseen twists and turns, and luckily, this podcast helps shine a light by providing answers to questions we are sometimes unable to ask. Conversations with working actors offer a treasure trove of practical knowledge. Each guest brings their own personality, experiences, and lessons which can be easily translated to our careers. The host, Ryan, helps steer the conversation to be beneficial to aspiring actors by navigating through the guest speakers acting journey and how they found success. Ryan is excellent at assisting actors to break down vague comments, such as "putting in the hard work" and always accompanies those responses with "what do you mean by that?" This seemingly-basic follow-up is essential because there is no manual or clear road for an actor, and specifics are so helpful and encouraging, especially for a newbie. The conversations flow well, and Ryan is an entertaining host, so I'm never bored. I've listened to way too many podcasts for actors, but this one is the one I highly recommend, hands down!

Essential Podcast For Actors

The advice on how to book more is phenomenal. I’ve listened to multiple of the podcasts. These actors have trained with Lesly Kahn and are actual working actors, many you would recognize. They are on shows like Stranger Things, Series of Unfortunate Events, Scream Queens, Billions, and movies like Dumb and Dumber 2 and Jurassic World. Hearing them talk about their experiences is helpful and assuring. They stuff they went through shows you aren’t alone and that it may be a hard industry but you have to put in the work. They also give tons of advice, talk about different ways they attracted auditions and make connections! Kahnversations is the podcast actors should listen to, it also gives people a reality check, which all actors need.
