In the early 2000s, two white guys from Metro Detroit thought, “Hey, maybe we should should start rapping…”

Over the decade that followed, the duo would go on to produce hundreds of beats, rhymes and remixes under the name Kissing Cuzzins.

The results were… varied.

In this podcast, we take a hard – and honest – look back at the KC discography. We share the stories behind each track, the artists that inspired us, and the logic behind our oft cringe-inducing lyrics.

    Don't Play This for Jay-Z ("Double-You-Tee-Eff")

Alright alright alright. This week we're taking it back to Proxy's q-zone: Mediocre beats and radical displays of toxic masculinity. We discuss yet another super-weird breakup track, "Double-You-Tee-Eff." And along the way, we reveal who this beat was originally meant for... shameful stories from our youth... why Keef had Al Pacino bedsheets... and more. Join us?

Get in the car, loser... we're going to Blondie's! In this week's action-packed Kast, we explore the Proxy (featuring Keef Herbin) joint, "Free Show." We get into the casual misogyny in the lyrics, references to various Metro Detroit locales, and the proper way to pronounce "disparate." Join us?

    Some Kinda Weird-Ass Soliloquy ("Oreoutro")

Are you a glutton for PUNishment? If so, you're in luck! Because today we're talking about the Keef Herbin forced-pun majeure, "Oreoutro." Which is to say... We are wrapping up our discussion of the Sweet Tooth EP, with a conversation that weaves our rap with the sexy stylings of Ray J and Yung Berg, not to mention Fall Out Boy - or, as Jay-Z lovingly calls them, Young FOB. Hang on, kiddies... it's gonna be a wild ride. Join us?

Deliberate Serial Killer Music ("Communication Skills")

Whoa! Did you just stumble into Ollie's? Because this week's episode is a HOT THREE-FOR-ONE DEAL. That's right, three takes on the same song, courtesy of Proxy, Keef and...uh, DJ E-State? It's a real grab bag of vibes. And along the way, we'll touch on some of life's biggest questions:
Who was Mike Seaver's best friend on Growing Pains? Are They Might Be Giants the fathers of emo rap? And what's the deal with Ready Player One? Join us?

#FreakyBars w/ Special Guest DJ RAY ("Swisher Sweetheart")

Turn the lights down low... 'cause we 'bout to get FREAK-AY. In this week's Kast, we really tear into the "rump roast," i.e. discuss the Hall & Oates-sampling raunch-fest "Swisher Sweetheart." And to aid us in our discussion we have none other than *actual* hip-hop producer and engineer DJ Ray. Find out why Ray chose Keef to be one of his final musical collaborators in the Detroit area... and what his artistic process looks like. Suburban White Mom Rap ("Bed, Bath, Etc.")

Suburban White Mom Rap ("Bed, Bath, Etc.")

Choke down those omega-3s and slip on your Crocs, because today's Kast is all about the Proxy solo jam "Bed, Bath, Etc." That's right... It's a deep dive into the world of middle-class suburban white moms, through the lens of rap (for some reason). We'd love to say that if you listen it will all make sense, but... it won't. You'll have fun anyway though! *And* you'll be treated to the carefully manicured thoughts of two cis white dudes on Michael Jackson, R. Kelly and cancel culture at large. Hoo boy... Join us?

I love/hate the exercise of revisiting old projects. It's usually a painful process, so I feel connected to the guys when they’re unpacking the time/place responsible for those younger versions of themselves. Whenever off-topic, Alex and Chris’s tangents can be uneven — sometimes lol moments, other times complete distractions. But I like the space they allow for one another. One note: they’re really hung up on the whole white rapper thing. I get that’s the self-deprecating nature of the show but may I say — give the white man a chance. You ever hear of 3rd Base? Educate yourselves.

I do like when they talk about Big Bufords tho. That’s a burger at Checkers. They talk about it — like, a lot.

I also like how they regularly implore/guilt/shame their listeners into rating/reviewing the podcast.

Oh, and bring back the fake British accents, please.

Very entertaining show! Weekly listener.
