Today on the podcast, hosts Marty Lenard and Aaron Yates interview Dr. Rebecca Bell-Metereau, a Democratic candidate for the Texas State Board of Education, District 5. This district encompasses all of Kerr County along with Gillespie, Kendall, Blanco, Llano, Mason, San Saba, Guadalupe, Caldwell, and Hayes counties, as well as portions of Bexar and Travis counties.







The State Board of Education election is part of the Primary Election Ballot on March 3. Voters in each political party will select a candidate that will then be on the ballot in the November general election.

Kerr County is part of District 5 for the State Board of Education, and the recent retirement of Ken Mercer (R) has left this seat wide open to potential candidates. Kerrville United will interview some of the candidates for this seat in the near future, so this episode aims to bring you up to speed on the duties of the SBOE reps and why their work is important.
