KDP Ep 050: Keto Zealots and Misinformation (Mad As Hell)

KDP Ep 050: Keto Zealots and Misinformation (Mad As Hell)

Fair warning on today's episode folks.  I'm all jacked up on Diet Mountain Dew!  Not really, but I am pretty irritated by the state of the nutrition scene, especially around the Keto and Carnivore scenes.  So. Much. Information being spread.

Well ladies and gentlemen, ol' Dr. Matt has had enough.
So sit back and relax to what could be the last "Ketodontist Podcast" as we broaden our scope and start cutting through the BS.

It all starts with the mouth...

Dr. Matt's podcast is a true prize. Being a dentist/orthodontist, he has a unique perspective on health within the Keto/Paleo sphere. As someone who has suffered for years with dental problems, it's refreshing to hear about the role that what you put in your piehole affects your dental health beyond the usual trope "don't eat sugar." It's so much more. I can't recommend it more highly.

Maybe it was 5 stars 2 years ago

Maybe this podcast was worth five stars two years ago when most of the other ratings and reviews were posted… I only made it through about five minutes of this particular podcast. I stopped listening when he said “you have failed as a person”. Sometimes “telling it like it is” is just simply an excuse for being rude & unhelpful.

No Dogma

A refreshing combo of medical professional and nutrition enthusiast. Most keto podcasts routinely bash doctors and the like for their ignorance (not necessarily unwarranted), but not here.

The best feature is the lack of zealotry and evidence based nutrition. The advice fits the evidence instead of a lot of podcasts where they are so set in their dogma they refuse to change their views in the face of clear science and choose to manipulate the data to their needs or ignore it altogether.

Different types of keto are explored here (there are many different versions for specific goals), which is a byproduct of the lack of zealotry mentioned earlier.

No idea about most of the dental geekiness, but I do now use a water pick to irrigate my teeth regularly so I must have understood some of it.
