Ep 121: Casting On With Magic

Ep 121: Casting On With Magic

This week Katie and Jim delve into the parallels between casting on a knitting project and casting a spell. They discuss the significance of release and intention in both activities, comparing casting on stitches in knitting to creating a magical circle in spellcasting.

Throughout the episode, they explore various knitting cast on methods, including the knitted cast on, cable cast on, long tail cast on, i-cord cast on, picot cast on, and provisional cast on. For each method, they discuss its practical uses in knitting and associated magical correspondences.

They also discuss the importance of raising and releasing energy in both knitting and magic, emphasizing visualization and intention in the creative process. The episode concludes with a reference guide for listeners to download, enabling them to apply the discussed magical correspondences to their knitting projects.

Enjoy this intriguing exploration of how crafting and magic intersect, demonstrating how knitting techniques can be infused with intention and symbolism akin to spellcasting.

Ep 120: What Is Cord Magic?

James explains how cords are used in candle magic, such as tying cords between candles to symbolize connections between individuals or for cord-cutting rituals to sever negative ties. They also explore how cords are incorporated into magical crafts like creating prosperity pouches and knitting i-cords.

The hosts highlight some of Katie's magical knitting patterns, including the Traveler's Talisman scarf, the Self Love Cowl, and the Moon Cowl, discussing how each pattern incorporates intentional stitch patterns and colors to infuse the finished piece with specific magical properties.

They conclude the episode by teasing upcoming topics for the season, including an interview with guest Diana Rajchel about hex twisting. The hosts express excitement for the season ahead and invite listeners to join them on their magical journey.
