Knowing is not enough

Why do we do so much work on ourselves and still feel stuck?

In this episode, Dana speaks to a question a client once brought her in a moment of quiet hurt —

"I've done so much, how is it that I'm still struggling?"

And unpacks two common traps she sees, both in clients and in the field itself.

The first: mistaking knowledge for change. We live in an age saturated with therapeutic language, and clients often arrive already fluent in their attachment style, their patterns, their history — yet insight alone doesn't shift anything, and endless retelling can even re-traumatise.

The second: mistaking catharsis for healing. Chaotic processing, altered states, and out-of-body experiences can produce a powerful high without ever building the coherence or containment a person actually needs in daily life. Dana points instead to what she sees work, again and again — a body that can hold what the mind already knows, and the slow, unglamorous work of building the bridge between the two.
