Give yourself the gift of good sermons
Let me start by saying that I'm not the kind of person that listens to sermons on my iPod. I would rather be snug in the comfort of a song I've heard a hundred times before by a group I love. Or challenged by a new tune from a bunch of musicians with enough talent to fill me with jealousy and admiration. So I'm not qualified to rate this podcast from the perspective of someone who listens to a lot of them on a daily basis. I can, however, say that in the 35+ years of sitting in church nearly every Sunday, I've heard a few sermons, and the ones that Matt Colwell delivers at Knox Presbyterian have redefined the genre for me. His sermons aren't the meat and potatoes "God wants you to be a good person or he'll send you to hell" kind, nor are they the "butterflies are pretty and God can help you be one" type, either. His sermons are complex in that they explore topics in the scripture that can be difficult to understand, but they're accessible to everyone because he uses his vast knowledge of the far reaches of pop culture and the history of everything to bring it all home. Give it a shot. Listen to a couple of them, and tell your friends. You'll be glad you did.
