Progressive Front & Rear Suspension On A Harley | Review

    Official Website: https://www.lawabidingbiker.com
Get Progressive Suspension for your Harley Davidson!  We installed the Progressive Suspension Monotube Fork Cartridge Kit on Lurch's 2015 Harley-Davidson Road Glide Special. After riding his Harley with the newly installed Progressive front suspension on a 10-day, 4,000-mile road trip, and on many different road surfaces, he highly recommends this suspension and we decided to carry Progressive Suspension right in the Law Abiding Biker Store.
We also installed the Progressive Suspension 490 Sport Heavy Duty Series Shocks on his 2015 Harley-Davidson Road Glide Special.  He also highly recommends these shocks and we decided to carry them right in the Law Abiding Biker Store.
SUPPORT US AND SHOP IN THE OFFICIAL LAW ABIDING BIKER STORE Lurch was not happy with the overall ride of his 2015 Harley-Davidson Road Glide Special, which came with the standard front suspension Harley has used for many years now on its touring models, which has no adjustments. Unfortunately, it is what it is.  He wanted a smoother ride, better cornering abilities, and adjustable preload and dampening, all of which the Progressive Suspension Monotube Fork Cartridge Kit has!
He was also not happy with the standard manually adjustable rear shocks that Harley has used for many years now on its touring models.  He wanted a smoother ride, better cornering abilities, and adjustable preload and dampening, all of which the 13" Progressive Suspension 490 Sport Heavy Duty Series Shocks have!
WHY LURCH CHOSE 13" SHOCKS: A Harley Street to Road Glide Special comes stock with 12" shocks and you can certainly maintain the 12" when choosing your Progressive Suspension rear shocks from the Law Abiding Biker Store.  By installing the 13" Progressive Suspension rear shocks, Lurch raised the rear of his Road Glide Special 1" which gives him more of a lean angle. It's definitely noticeable when riding. You really can't visually tell the bike has been raised 1". Note that Harley models like the Ultra Classic come stock with 13" shocks. The special models come with 12" shocks.
CHECK OUT OUR HUNDREDS OF FREE HELPFUL VIDEOS ON OUR YOUTUBE CHANNEL AND SUBSCRIBE! Lurch was absolutely blown away at how much smother his Harley rode and cornered after installing Progressive Suspension! He did not realize what a difference good shocks would make! Wow, it was more than he ever expected and he highly recommends upgrading your Harley shocks to Progressive Suspension! It even got rid of most of the bagger wobble while cornering at faster speeds.  His Harley just rode like a completely different bike!

HARLEY-DAVIDSON GOES BIG FOR 120TH ANNIVERSARY | 2023 NEW MODELS RELEASED

HARLEY-DAVIDSON GOES BIG FOR 120TH ANNIVERSARY | 2023 NEW MODELS RELEASED

    Official Website: https://www.lawabidingbiker.com
On January 18, 2023, the Harley-Davidson New 2023 Models were released.  This included seven anniversary models, two new models, and the return of one model.  In this episode, we wrapped up everything we learned and put it into a nice package for you.

See our video on the topic!

    Anniversary Models

The first six of the seven total anniversary models share a unique paint scheme described as Heirloom Red with a Midnight Crimson Fade and highlighted powertrain components. These models will have oxblood-colored inserts on the seats.  And, the Anniversary models sharing this paint scheme are the Ultra Limited, Tri Glide Ultra, Street Glide Special, Road Glide Special, Fat Boy, and Heritage Classic.
SUPPORT US AND SHOP IN THE OFFICIAL LAW ABIDING BIKER STORE The seventh Anniversary Model is the CVO Road Glide Limited, being the only anniversary model with the larger 117 Cubic Inch M8 engine.  Its paint is a bit different and can be described as Anniversary Black and Midnight Crimson fade. And when viewed in the sun there is a red highlight to the black.  A subdued eagle split up between the fairing, tank, and bags.
Generally speaking, only about 3,000 to 1100 of each anniversary model will be released and they’ll all have serialized consoles.
CHECK OUT OUR HUNDREDS OF FREE HELPFUL VIDEOS ON OUR YOUTUBE CHANNEL AND SUBSCRIBE! NEW MODELS
The Breakout is returning to the lineup with that beautiful Milwaukee-Eight 117 V-Twin engine.  This bike will have a very wide rear tire, coming in at 240mm, a 5-gallon gas tank, and a 36-degree front rake, which makes it a long, low, wide, modern cruiser.
The Nightster Special is the next new model for 2023.  What’s so “Special” about this new Nightster?  To start, it has a passenger pillion and footpegs to allow two-up riding.  The handlebars and risers move the bars up and back for a more commanding rider position.  It has a four-inch round TFT display, replacing the analog speedometer and segmented LCD indicators, allowing for BlueTooth connectivity and navigation.  The Nightster Special is coming standard with cruise control, USB charging port, and you can add heated grips.
This new model is going to be a surprise for some. And for many out there, it is a long time coming.  It is the all-new Road Glide 3 Trike.  I’m going to say right up front that even if you’ve never been interested in trikes, this one is sure to turn your head a bit. Many riders have requested a Road Gide trike for years now and it looks like Harley made it happen.  A lot of engineering went into making the first Harley trike with a frame-mounted fairing including things like the placement of the fairing to accommodate the long rake and steering dampening of the trike.
Note: By clicking on any pictures or links in this article & making a purchase, we do get a small commission. No additional cost to you. Help support us please if you appreciate what we're doing to help bikers.

Traction Control Systems will be offered as a new option for the Breakout, Low Rider S, and Low Rider ST models in 2023.  Electronic cruise control will be a standard feature for the Fat Boy, Fat Bob, Breakout, and Low Rider S models.  It remains standard on the Low Rider ST, Heritage Classic, and Sport Glide models.
    120th ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATION
The Harley-Davidson 120th Anniversary Homecoming Celebration Event is scheduled for July 13-16, 2023, in Milwaukee.  Harley informed us that this will become an annual event in Milwaukee.  Homecoming events will take place at venues across the Milwaukee area facilities and who knows, maybe we’ll see ya all there.

Pacific Northwest Patron Member Ride & Meet | Stories & Debacles

    Official Website: https://www.lawabidingbiker.com
Law Abiding Biker (LAB) Store Manager Big Daddy Kane (BDK) put on a Pacific Northwest meet-up and ride.  Unfortunately, we were unable to do an official LAB meet-up and ride earlier in the summer, like we do every year.  Rick took it upon himself to plan a meet-up and ride, which was much appreciated.  We met at the LAB store in Richland, WA.  Rick opened up the store for yours and hooked Patrons up with some merch/parts.  We had a beautiful ride into Oregon and back to BDK's place for a BBQ.
The ride was on August 20, 2022.  Members of LAB that attended were BDK (and his wife), Goat, Ryan, Lurch (and his wife), Oscar, Squid, and Sturgis Jeff (and his wife).

Upgrading A Harley M8 114 Cubic Inch Engine To A 465 Gear Cam, New Cam Chest, & A New Performance Oil Pump!

Upgrading A Harley M8 114 Cubic Inch Engine To A 465 Gear Cam, New Cam Chest, & A New Performance Oil Pump!

    Official Website: https://www.lawabidingbiker.com
We recently did an S&S 465 gear cam & oil pump upgrade on Popeye's 2019 Harley Street Glide special with the 114 ci Milwaukee Eight engine. We filmed this project in detail over several days. That detailed tutorial video will eventually be released on this YouTube Channel.  In this episode, Lurch and I talk about the project and also give our opinions and thoughts on the bike's performance after installation. Is it worth it? We also talk about tuning the engine to the new cam.
SUPPORT US AND SHOP IN THE OFFICIAL LAW ABIDING BIKER STORE There are many cam manufacturers out there, and there are just as many cam options.  After talking with some of our Patron Members in the members-only Law Abiding Biker Facebook Group, Popeye decided to go with the S&S gear drive 465 gear torque cam.  We have no affiliation with S&S, but we definitely recommend them.  You can get the kit Popeye used HERE.
A torque cam offers on-demand throttle response from low to mid RPM at cruising speed.  A power cam targets high RPM, wide-open throttle response that keeps pulling right up to the redline.
CHECK OUT OUR HUNDREDS OF FREE HELPFUL VIDEOS ON OUR YOUTUBE CHANNEL AND SUBSCRIBE! You can go with a chain-driven cam or a gear-driven cam.  You need to measure your pinion shaft runout to make sure it's within specifications for a gear-driven cam.  The benefit of a gear-driven cam is you eliminate the chain and chain tensioner.
We tuned Popeye's bike with the Vance and Hines FP3 and it runs like a raped ape.  Tuning was easy with the FP3.  We selected the intake, cam, and exhaust for Popeye's bike and flashed it.  After flashing the "canned" map, we ran an auto-tune session with really dialed things in.  Due to Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) findings and Federal Trade Commission (FTC) settlements, the FP3 may soon become a thing of the past.  We grabbed up a bunch of FP3s for you guys.  You can get one here: Vance and Hines FP3.

Bearing Install Both Front & Rear On A Harley Davidson Touring | DIY & Save Money!

    Official Website: https://www.lawabidingbiker.com
In this podcast, I'm joined by Lurch, and we cover everything you need to know about your Harley-Davidson sealed wheel bearings.  We were replacing the rocker cover ad rocker cover housing gaskets on my 2014 Harley Street Glide Special.  A step in the replacement procedures required us to rotate the rear tire.  We noticed that my rear tire would move side to side and there was an audible "knocking" sound coming from the wheel as we manipulated it side to side.
We removed the tire and found that one of the sealed wheel bearings was failing.
SUPPORT US AND SHOP IN THE OFFICIAL LAW ABIDING BIKER STORE You can get the Jims Bearing Tool we used in the video HERE.
The rear wheel of model years 2008 to current touring models equipped with ABS require three non-ABS bearings (Harley Part #9276B) and one ABS bearing (Harley Part #9252A).  The front wheel requires one non-ABS and one ABS bearing.  There is o difference in bearing parts numbers for the front and the rear wheel.  Non-touring model rear wheels only require one ABS and one non-ABS bearing.
We sell All Balls Racing bearings in the Law Abiding Biker Store.  You can shop them HERE.
CHECK OUT OUR HUNDREDS OF FREE HELPFUL VIDEOS ON OUR YOUTUBE CHANNEL AND SUBSCRIBE! We know some guys that change their bearings at every single tire change, just for good measure. Harley says you should inspect your wheel bearings at every tire change.  You do this by inserting a finger into the inner race of the bearing and rotating it in both directions.  The bearing should rotate freely and smoothly. If you note any drag, rough rotation, or abnormal noises you should replace them.

Good info

Great podcast and info once you get to it. It’s fairly annoying having to scroll through the first 10-20 min of the episode to get to the actual content though. Maybe some people enjoy the ads and banter and small talk for 15 min before the actual subject is breached but I find it annoying. A time stamp for when the episode actually starts would be helpful at least.

Off The Cliff

Let me preface this by saying this is the 1st time I've ever bothered to write a review for a podcast and this is really for Ryan and crew more than anyone else, because I think they need to hear it.
When I 1st found this podcast I thought "Finally! A real podcast about bikes and bikers"! These guys actually ride and know bikes. They even do some wrenching! In other words, my kind of people. They USED TO talk about bikes, and riding, and road trips, and clubs, and events, etc. etc. etc. It was fantastic! That being said, this podcast has gone completely off the cliff. No more talking about any of that stuff. Now, all you hear is what equipment Ryan uses, the products they sell, the videos they sell, and just about anything else NOT related to bikes or riding. In an hour and a half podcast, you'll be an hour in before motorcycles even come up! I wasted more than an hour listening to a discussion about covering work benches with metal!!! Huh??? If I wanted to listen about home improvement, I would find a home improvement podcast. I have dropped my rating of this show from 5 stars to 2. I keep hoping they will return to topics that matter to riders/bikers and quit trying to sell us everything, but I've almost given up and will likely be unsubscribing soon. Guys, I really like you all, but this is too much! Please return to actual biker talk. I don't want a Butt Buffer seat cusion and I couldn't possibly care less about what video and audio equipment Ryan bought last week, or how much it all cost him. I want to hear about road trips, places to go, new bikes you loved or hated and why, past or upcoming biker rallys, rides or events, riding tips (you have a lot of knowledge to pass on), things you saw or experienced on the road, people you met while riding, etc. There is a ton of content out there. Bring back the things we want to hear about!

Best regards,
Tim (Grunt)
