By addressing these questions and creating a culture that aligns with employees' values and goals, organizations can improve employee motivation and productivity.

Proven Strategies To Resolve Conflict In The Workplace

Ralph Kilman, the co-creator of the Thomas Kilman conflict mode instrument (TKI), discusses his lifelong work on conflict management and collaboration. Kilman explains that his interest in conflict stems from his personal experiences growing up in a family affected by conflict and his academic studies on conflict management. He and his colleague developed the TKI assessment to measure the different ways people approach conflict, and it has become a widely used tool in organizations. Kilman emphasizes that conflict is inevitable and not inherently bad, but it needs to be managed effectively. He also discusses the importance of addressing inner conflicts and the role of systems in conflict management. Kilman suggests that leaders can create a positive conflict culture by modeling effective conflict management behaviors and working to change the systems that support conflict resolution. He also shares some powerful phrases for addressing conflict and highlights the need to address conflicts at both the interpersonal and organizational levels.

David Sets a New Precedent for Podcast Hosts

Like other authors, I welcome every opportunity to serve as a guest on podcasts. Since podcasts are my preferred method of learning, I listen to even more. From those experiences, it is clear that David sets a new precedent—and just may be a hard act for other podcast hosts to follow.

David is thoroughly prepared; he knows what direction he’d like the discussion to go. And yet he is emotionally intelligent enough to be agile and intuitive during the conversation. He is simultaneously engaging and giving, allowing each guest the opportunity to be the center of the conversation. Perhaps just as important, David is clearly well-read and interesting himself—which makes each conversation better.

As a guest and listener, I highly recommend David and the Leadership Without Losing Your Soul podcast—and I look forward to our next conversation!
