Moving Too Fast: Three Ways You’re Damaging Your Brand

Moving Too Fast: Three Ways You’re Damaging Your Brand

“Slow down and enjoy life. It’s not only the scenery you miss by going too fast, you also miss the sense of where you are going and why.” — Tiffany Neuman

It seems like in order to get ahead, you have to move faster than everybody else. Like business success is at the finish line of a 100 meter sprint, and it’s you against your competitors.

Many entrepreneurs and business owners are so invested in this idea that they are actually afraid to slow down. Because if they ease up on the gas, they’re going to lose progress…or worse, money.

I’m here today with an episode to flip that idea on its head and to tell you that by moving too fast, you’re actually damaging your business and brand in both the short and long terms.

I know, I know. Taking a slower, more thoughtful approach doesn’t always seem exciting. Can’t you just subscribe to one of those “Roadmap to Seven Figures” or “How To Sign 10,000 Clients Overnight” courses and get there faster?

Theoretically, you could do that. In actuality, that option likely won’t deliver what it promises and if it does you’ll find yourself drowning in work without any reliable strategy to help you wade through it.

So what’s the solution? Listen to today’s episode of The Legacy Lounge where I’m laying out the three ways you’re damaging your brand and business by moving too fast, and…

The incredible benefits of slowing down to build a gold-standard blueprint for your brand and business
How you can identity the branding expert you need at your stage of business
The right way to create your brand and to ensure you don’t cut corners in the process
The way my client created a brand new launch strategy in less than 48 hours
The easiest way to build a trustworthy relationship with your audience
Why we need a slow marketing movement, now
    …so much more!

Here’s my actual best tip for building a blueprint for your brand — join my signature done – with – you program, Legacy Brand Foundations. This is a transformational course for mission – driven, heart – centered entrepreneurs who are ready to up level in their business.

This is an intimate space where I walk you through this process and so much more to create a rock – solid foundation for your brand and business. It’s not a course. It’s a done-with-you program where you’re left to your own devices. I hold your hand every step of the way. You can check it out at the link below!

Lessons In Slowing Down Speed Up

Lessons In Slowing Down Speed Up

“She doesn't beg, force, or chase. She prays, works, and has faith.”

    — Unknown Author

I don’t know about you but when it feels like a shit show in the world, I get more fired up to make a bigger impact.

And I truly believe it is the entrepreneurs in the world who are up for this challenge.

Sure, there are some days when I feel sad and overwhelmed by all of the things that have gone wrong and everything that needs to be made right. But I always return to center and the things that I know to be true.

And for me, as an eternal optimist, I believe that things only get worse so that they can get better on the other end!

One of those things that I have gone on my own personal journey to learn about is Slowing Down To Speed Up, which is what I’m talking all about on the podcast this month!

If you’re an entrepreneur or small business owner, you have likely been sucked into the “hustle culture” of it all at some point or another. I know I was for years.

But my friends, I’m here to tell you today that this is no way to live. Hustling will only get you so far, and I’d go as far to say that the hustle culture sets up a dangerous internal belief system that teaches you that worth and success are tied to how hard a person works.

Recently, I’ve felt the industry awakening from this idea of hustle culture. We’re slowly but surely emerging into a greater truth and understanding of what freedom can mean in our businesses and, ultimately, in our lives.

In today’s episode, I’m getting personal so that we can break down and understand this shift in our industry, and I’m also sharing:

A secret that I’ve been keeping about my summer plans
Three questions to ask yourself honestly so that you can slow down to speed up in your business
The biggest thing you can do to actually making progress in your business
A great book recommendation for your summer reading list
My thoughts on current industry trends
    …so much more.

    Favorite quotes from this episode:

“I truly believe it's the entrepreneurs who can work together to actually create a positive impact, and specifically as women, we are called to rise up during these times.” — Tiffany Neuman

“It’s possible and the magic will come.” — TN

“Taking the time to set up your brand for the long run allows you the space to continue the pattern of slowing down to speed up.” — TN

“If you're not careful, your business can begin to run your life.” — TN

“Once you take action, you will begin to see results.” — TN

Visualization: Living In Alignment With Your Values

Visualization: Living In Alignment With Your Values

“Well done is better than well said.” — Benjamin Franklin

In this series on Values we’ve done a lot of work to define what is actually important to us in our life and in our business, but what happens if you’re just not quite feeling in alignment with those Values yet?

It’s fairly common to feel a disconnect between our values and how we’re living your everyday life.

Maybe you value your health, but you find it hard to get off the couch to go outside for a walk?

Maybe you value honesty, but you tell the occasional white lie.

Maybe discipline is important to you, but you’ve been finding yourself procrastinating.

    You get the idea…

It’s important to acknowledge that if you’re not living in alignment with your stated values, then they’re simply not your values…yet. They’re aspirations…good intentions…a good first step toward living the life you dream about.

But you may not be there quite yet. And that’s okay!

But here’s the bottom line: Aspirational values are good, but actionable values are better.

I want us all to get to a place where we are consistently living in accordance with and taking actions that are in line with our values.

That’s why in today’s episode of The Legacy Lounge podcast I’m walking you through a visualization exercise that will:

Help integrate all of the values work we’ve done in the last few episodes
Unlock hidden values for you to integrate into your life
Give you a deeper sense of integration and congruence between what your values are and how you are living your life
Recalibrate your nervous system and step out of reactionary and short-term thinking and decision making
Reconnect you with the things that are actually important to you
Help you connect with your own intuitive wisdom

I recommend that you listen to this exercise once per day for at least one week to really get the benefits of taking action on your values! After taking the time to do that, I hope that you will be inspired to integrate those Values we’ve been working on and maybe even some new ones into your everyday life!

And if you feel like you need a little more support in building your brand foundations and establishing clear values, the early bird application is open for my next cohort of the Legacy Brand Foundations program — we start in September and I’d love to have you there.

Legacy Leader on Values Karen Sergeant

Legacy Leader on Values Karen Sergeant

“If your values aren't helping you make a decision, they probably haven't been refined enough.” — Karen Segeant

Decision fatigue is real, and here’s why:

The average adult makes 35,000 decisions every day.

Now, factor in the life and daily choices presented to an entrepreneur or business leader. I'm sure that the average soars upward by the thousands.

And if we’re making 35,000 decisions everyday, that means we’re presented with at least 70,000 choices.

Woah, that’s a lot. Some might even say overwhelming.

That’s true, but…what if there was a way to make more decisions with ease and certainty? The kind of decision making power that leads your life and business to new heights and opportunities? The kind of choice elimination that zeroes in on the big dreams and visions you have for your future?

My friend and client, Karen Sergeant recently sat down in The (virtual) Legacy Lounge with me to talk all about how clearly defined business values can make a huge impact on our decision making abilities and the trajectory of our business growth.

Karen is a Team Growth Strategist and COO who helps business owners survive their growth spurts, grow their teams, and cultivate a strong culture based on consent and accountability.

For 25 years, she jas guided teams through high stakes, high uncertainty situations, from counterterrorism operations in Afghanistan to software project management at the dawn of the Internet boom. And, as a COO, she's helped clients achieve seven figure launches, roll out new product lines, architect full team reorgs, and build strong equity centered business practices.

When it comes to making decisions in business, Karen is an expert. And in our 20 - minute conversation, we covered a lot of ground:

Exactly how Karen developed her own values and how they’re serving her business and her clients today
Why having clearly defined values can help you make better decisions and build better teams
An unexpected method for defining your brand values
Why your values should challenge you and “cramp your style”
How your values are impacting your team’s ability to do their jobs
How your values make a bigger difference in the world than you may realize
The #1 values mistake to avoid: performative values
Tips on how to create values that are inclusive and in alignment with who you want to call in
    …and so much more!

After listening to this episode, I hope that you will be inspired to live out your values in your life and business!

And if you feel like you need a little more support in building your brand foundations and establishing clear values, the early bird application is open for my next cohort of the Legacy Brand Foundations program — we start in September and I’d love to have you there.

How To Create Your Legacy Making Value Statement

"A brand's strength is built on its determination to promote its own distinctive values and mission." — Jean-Noel Kapferer

I hope so, because in today’s episode of The Legacy Lounge Podcast I’m walking you through my tried and true process to create your very own, totally unique and personalized value statement that you’ll end up hanging on your wall.

(No, really. Printing out your value statement and placing it somewhere visible is a real step in this process.)

I know that value work is not as exciting as other branding processes, BUT it is some of the most important work that you can ever do for your brand and for yourself.

Trust me on this. There’s data to back me up (I lay it all out for you in the episode), and even a few personal anecdotes!

So, I want you to take out a pen and paper and get ready to work. This is not the episode where you can passively listen and learn. This is an episode where we are implementing so that you can experience growth and change in your business faster than you ever thought possible.

And not fast in a chaotic way, fast in a you’re - in-a-flow kind of way.

Sound good? Here’s what we’re covering today:

My tried and true method on how to create your own value statement ( I use this with all of my clients!)
The 5 key differentiating elements that brand values offer your business
Why developing your values are imperative for business growth
The “S’ Method for targeting the exact words you need to use in your value statement to make it stand out and impactful
How to avoid creating corporate-style value statements that just collect dust on a shelf
All the ways your value statement can get to work for you to help you achieve your loftiest goals
    …and so much more!

My biggest and brand - nerdiest hope after you listen to this episode is that you’ll share your value statement with me!

And if you feel like you need a little more support in building your brand foundations and establishing clear values, the early bird application is open for my next cohort of the Legacy Brand Foundations program — we start in September and I’d love to have you there.

The Truth About Core Values In Business

The Truth About Core Values In Business

“You deserve to live the life you love, not what you think you should be doing or what everyone else is doing.”

We’re getting a little bit personal on the podcast today.

Why? Because this month we’re focusing on VALUES, and your core values not only guide your business, but they guide your entire life.

But don’t get the wrong idea, what we’re NOT doing this month is creating corporate - sounding value statements that, at the end of the day, are meaningless.

No, in this month’s series, we’re focusing on uncovering the values that have a real impact in your life. The values that give you clarity on your life and will help inform every decision that you make.

Now you might be thinking that you already have your values locked down. Or maybe you just think values are boring, and that you’re looking for branding advice that will really make an impact on your business.

I hear you. But I want you to know that if you do take the time with me to work on the idea of values from a Legacy BrandTM perspective, things will start happening for you. Good things, Beautiful things. Your life and business will expand.

Let me just be totally honest. In my experience with Fortune 500 brands and top entrepreneurs I’ve found that if a brand’s values aren’t in conscious alignment then none of the other marketing tactics that are being put to use will work for the brand and business. They just won’t.

I've seen more times than I can count. Business owners try every marketing trend — pinterest, reels, LinkedIn, Facebook Ads, a new website….you know what I mean — and they just don’t work. But when they finally come back to do this foundational work on their values, they gain the clarity and confidence that they need to go back out into the world. And when they try all of those same marketing tactics? Finally, and amazingly, they work like a miracle.

And it all starts with your values.

That’s why in today’s episode of The Legacy Lounge Podcast, I’m asking you to go on a personal journey. Don’t worry I’ll be there to guide you. Here’s what we’ll touch on this week:

The 3 Truths about Core Values
My personal journey of discovering my core values (it was a long road, including a big wake up call that ended with me in the hospital…in kidney failure)
The single question that will have you reassessing your whole life
How to break away from the expectations others have placed on you and start living the way you want to live
My thoughts on the pandemic (don’t worry, they’re not political)
An invitation to open up your journal to prepare for next week’s episode
    …and so much more!

    Favorite quotes from this episode:

“Values are the compass that guide everything we do.” — Tiffany Neuman

“Once you start living by your values, life will shift in the most beautiful of ways.” — TN
