Great story, but…

The story is fascinating and heartbreaking for the victims, but the hosts are annoying and overly dramatic and share their opinions too much. I feel like this could have been told in a few less episodes had they not chatted on so much

Ugh

You lost me at blatant Holocaust Denial.

That’s right, trivializing the Holocaust IS Holocaust Denial.

Normalizing it on a podcast listened by tens to hundreds of thousands of people all over the world — is straight-up dangerous. Yet no apology, no re-edit, no attempt to address it. This is not journalism, and super triggering for true crime listeners, who, incase you’re not paying attention, are drawn to true crime because they’ve experienced trauma and/or loss.

How does this pod have advertisers willing to make money off of this. And true reporting, always, puts the victims first.

Hosts detract

The hosts, esteemed and intelligent though they are, are not the right storytellers for this content. A few episodes in, I’m tuning them out. Both because they’re not adding value with their commentary, which I don’t understand how that is even possible, and because their cadence is waaay to casual and … gossipy? It’s largely meaningless banter between two people who seem to have less interest in and less knowledge of the psychological forces behind this story than your average true crime listener. At this point, I wouldn’t be surprised if they don’t even bring up the foot- and if they do, they’ll just titter about it a little bit, while offering *no* insight OR sharing ANY theories on it. The episode about her personal life offered less personal insight into Melissa’s life than all the other episodes. And if the hosts actually interviews her victims, why do I feel I know less about the whole situation than I did before? Also, the Anne Frank comment was totally inappropriate- yikes.
