What is an empath and how sensitivities can make it hard to function in the world. Do you suddenly feel overwhelmed with emotions but you are not sure why? Maybe you have a relative, friend or child who is just too emotional or extremely reactive/sensitive. They may be an empath. Michelle shares tools she has learned through navigating the jungle of emotions in her empathic journey and how she became unstuck. She talks about how social pressure to go along and get along  prevents people from being their true selves. How expectations of how we should be make people feel broken or inadequate. How often do you say yes when you really want to say no? Sensitive people can feel the will and disappointment of others so empaths have more pressure to comply. Michelle talks about how we are in the third generation of sensitive people: indigo children, star seeds and rainbow children. Identifying a sensitive child isn’t hard but she discusses how the empathic natures may show up around a specific element or a combination of them, such are earth: body stomach, digestive issue, urgency, food sensitivities. Air: thought empaths tend to be highly intelligent, read early, precocious, they worry about very big things. Fire: movement and tend to act out and fight for what they want. Some girls show up as fire empaths and then at the age of 8 or 9 because of socialization and expectations they switch to earth or water. Water empaths show up with as emotional, crumble at the drop of a hat and are prone to night terrors and distress. We discusee how to help someone work through tough times through the knowledge of the elements. How does self regulation, relate to bonding in infancy? How to parent a sensitive child by grounding, self regulating, calm your own nervous system. How stress or triggers can be an invitation for self discovery and healing. Why its worth it to sit with your own discomfort and distress.
