    A native of San Diego, California classical guitarist Robby Bell was introduced to music at an early age from his grandfather. Now with a Bachelors from UC Santa Cruz and a Masters from New England Conservatory, Robbie has been carrying the classical torch while carving his own path in the music industry.

    In our conversation piece we talk about his early childhood traveling as a military brat to his first classical guitar lesson while attending UC Santa Cruz and the professors that helped him define his sound & approach to classical guitar.

    Founded in 2015 by lead singer Sam Walukouw, reggae sensation Java Jukebox has been making waves in the Boston music scene with their “Take Me To The Roots” residency at the Middle East Club and opening up for big acts like Mighty Mystic. With one EP already out, the band is anticipating the release of their first full length album in 2019.

    In our conversation piece we sit down and hear from bandleader Sam Walukouw about growing up in Indonesia and the culture shock of moving to Canton, New York in his teenage high school years while barely being able to speak English.

    We also talk about his introduction to reggae music and his eventual move to Boston where he immersed himself in the music community and began developing his sound and skills as a songwriter and bandleader.

SO NECESSARY!

Wow. Love this so much. It’s awesome to hear info about the life of a musician, straight from their mouths. It’s cool to hear from people who don’t live in the standard “music cities” and still crush it as professional musicians. Also, to hear their music as the next episode after the interview interview is such a good idea! Congrats guys! ❤️
