Ep. 178-How I Fit Quiet Time Into My Morning Routine

Ep. 178-How I Fit Quiet Time Into My Morning Routine

Hey, friend! I hear from women all the time who say they find it difficult to either have a quiet time with God or time to study the Bible in depth. I totally understand the frustration they feel when they want so badly to be able to spend time with God but can’t figure out how to make that happen consistently.
I have been a big believer in doing a quiet time in the morning before I start my day. I know if I don’t do it in the morning, it most likely will not happen during the day. I’m not legalistic about this, even though the Bible shows Jesus spending time with God in the morning. I’m just more realistic about my schedule.
The way I fit this quiet time into my schedule is by placing it within my morning routine. I find that when I have a morning routine that allows me to flow from one activity or task to the next, I am better able to go about the day with more focus and tend to get more done.
In episode 178, I will share how I’m tweaking my morning routine in light of some new things I’m adding to it. I will show you how quiet time with God fits into this routine. And I’ll give you some tips for developing a routine that helps you to have a consistent quiet time. So, grab your favorite beverage and settle in as we talk about morning routines.

Ep. 177-How to Keep Your Focus When Studying the Bible

Ep. 177-How to Keep Your Focus When Studying the Bible

When you sit down to read or study the Bible, do you find yourself distracted? It’s hard to stay focused when studying the Bible because there are distractions all around us, especially if you have kids at home or have to study in a place that may not be quiet or conducive to focusing.
As I’ve talked with women about making time for Bible study, I’ve thought about how I’ve learned to keep my focus. I’ve created a five-step process for getting into the study mindset so that you can stay focused.
There are several Bible study methods that can help you get into God’s Word consistently. They can all be effective if you use them consistently. When choosing a method, it usually depends on your personal preference or learning style. I always say the most effective Bible study method is the one you will use consistently.
In episode 177, I will share what I call the FOCUS Bible study method. I’ll walk you through the five steps and give you my best tips for maximizing each step. So grab your favorite beverage and settle in so we can get started.

Ep. 176-Three Ways to Hear God's Voice

Ep. 176-Three Ways to Hear God's Voice

Have you ever heard God speak to you? Chances are you haven’t heard him audibly, but you may have sensed his presence and direction in your life. Then again, maybe you feel you’ve never heard from him at all.
As believers, it’s essential to learn to hear God speaking in our lives. Again, I’m not talking about hearing an audible voice, although I firmly believe that he would make a way if he wanted us to hear his voice audibly.
Learning how to hear God speaking to you can be helpful in so many ways. Maybe you are struggling with a decision about something that could be life-changing. Perhaps you just need reassurance that God is there and in control of your life. Whatever the reason you want to hear from God, there are ways we can learn to discern his voice.
In episode 176, I share three ways that you can hear God speaking to you. So grab your favorite beverage, settle in, and let’s get started!

Ep. 175-Three Ways to Study the Bible in a Deeper Way

Ep. 175-Three Ways to Study the Bible in a Deeper Way

Do you long to read the Bible and be able to understand it for yourself without the aid of commentaries or other Bible studies? Do you feel that your quiet time with the Lord could be more meaningful?
If you answered yes to either of these questions, I totally understand. I have had the desire to go deeper into Bible study for several years. It’s one of the reasons I chose to start pursuing a seminary degree last fall. I want to know the Bible inside and out as best as I can.
I would guess, though, that you may not know how to study the Bible to get the most out of it. So, in episode 175, I will share with you three things you can do now to begin diving deeper into God’s Word.
Grab your favorite beverage and maybe something to take notes with as we talk about how to study the Bible in a deeper way.

Ep. 174-Four Verses to Pray in Seasons of Waiting

Ep. 174-Four Verses to Pray in Seasons of Waiting

Hey, friend! Do you find it difficult to be patient when you are in a season of waiting? I’ll admit that I struggle with this a lot. I don’t like to wait for anything.
However, I know as a believer that God can use these seasons of waiting to refine my character and shape me to be more like Christ. That doesn’t mean it’s easy or that I like it.
One thing I’ve found that has helped me in seasons of waiting is to pray Scripture back to God. When we pray God’s word back to Him, we know that He hears us. And praying Scripture helps us to pray according to God’s will, not our own. It makes surrendering the outcome to God much easier.
So, grab your favorite beverage and settle in as I share four verses you can pray during a season of waiting.
Maybe you’re not used to praying Scripture. Don’t worry! I’ve got you covered. I’ll share how each of these verses can be made into a prayer.
