#63 Ben Mumme: 10 Effective Ways To Improve Your Emotional Wellness

#63 Ben Mumme: 10 Effective Ways To Improve Your Emotional Wellness

Ben Mumme is the founder and podcast host of Living Your Greatness. He has achieved greatness in his life both professionally and personally. The purpose of the Living Your Greatness podcast is to help millions of people across the world achieve greatness and enhance their overall personal well-being.
In this episode, Ben recorded a solo episode where he shares personal knowledge, wisdom and life lessons. The goal of solo episodes is to equip you with mindset strategies, tactics and tools to help you live a great life!
Ben starts off the episode by defining what is emotional wellness. He explains that it involves expressing your feelings, adjusting to challenges, coping with the stress that life brings, and enjoying your life. It includes knowing our strengths as well as what we want to get better at, and living and working on our own but letting others help us from time to time. Emotional wellness includes both emotional intelligence and emotional regulation. The construct of emotional well-being lies within the broader understanding of mental health. The lack of emotions does not equal emotional health, just as the lack of mental illness does not equal mental health. Someone suppressing emotions, especially from childhood, may not be as emotionally healthy as someone vulnerable enough to express their emotions.
Ben discusses why emotional wellness is so important. When we are emotionally well, we are better able to enjoy our life and the people in it. We can love, express ourselves creatively, learn new things without fear and test our limits. We are better equipped to cope with difficulties, disappointments, sadness and stress, secure in the knowledge that, in time, we will be able to enjoy our lives once again. Emotional wellness matters, to all ages, everywhere.
Ben shares 10 effective ways to improve your emotional wellness:
    1. Brighten your outlook
    2. Take responsibility for yourself
    3. Cope with loss
    4. Accept the changes in your life
    5. Strengthen social connections
    6. Take good care of your body
    7. Choose to be a good friend to yourself
    8. Surround yourself with positive thoughts and people
    9. Get quality sleep
    10. Be mindful

#60 Jp Cortez: Restoring the Value of Sound Money and Improving the Quality of Life of Billions of People Around the World

#60 Jp Cortez: Restoring the Value of Sound Money and Improving the Quality of Life of Billions of People Around the World

Jp Cortez is the Policy Director of the Sound Money Defense League. Armed with the belief that restoring sound money would improve the quality of life of billions of people throughout the world and a background in Austrian economics, Cortez crafts policy and testifies at legislative hearings. He is regularly invited to speak at events on sound money, constitutional issues, monetary policy, and state policy.
Jp is the lead author of the Sound Money Index, an annual report that ranks all 50 states to determine which states offer the most pro-sound money environment in the country. With legislative victories in over a dozen states since 2018, Jp has become a leading contributor to sound money efforts across the nation. His articles and analysis have appeared in Business Insider, Huffington Post, Newsweek, Washington Examiner, and more.
In this podcast episode, Jp starts by sharing what inspired him to become a policy director for Sound Money Defence League. He also speaks about his involvement with Young Americans for Liberty when he studied Political Sciences and Government at Auburn University.
In 1971, the United States severed its ties with the gold standard, turning its currency into fiat money. That led all national currencies to be valued against the U.S. dollar. Instead of using gold as the power behind the money, the government is the strength and the reason fiat money has value. JP talks about how this decision by President Nixon changed the global monetary system and weakened the world economy.
As inflation has made new global record highs, Jp explains that this is a generational opportunity for people to invest in gold and silver as they are real tangible assets. Jp talks about Dr. Ron Paul and highlights some of the valuable life lessons that he learned from him. Jp discusses what has sparked his motivation to restore the value of sound money and improve the quality of life for billions of people around the world. Lastly, Jp provides his definition of greatness and what it means to him.
