The Dallas Stars are the #1 team in this week's NHL Power Rankings by The Athletic. In today's episode of Locked On Stars, Joey gives his thoughts on the rankings and where he thinks the Stars belong. Other teams in the conversation are the Presidents Trophy winners in the New York Rangers, Florida Panthers and the Boston Bruins. Where do you think the Stars rank amongst the best in the NHL. In the second segment, we take a look at Roope Hintz's case to win the Selke this season. He has never been in the top five in his career, but that could change. This year Hintz has taken a bigger workload this year with Radek Faksa taking a step back under the Pete DeBoer era. It will be tough to win against players like Sam Reinhart and Alexander Barkov for the Panthers, but he should be in the conversation. Finally, we look at the possible first round matchups for the Stars once again. A lot could change in the final few days of the season which could see the Stars taking on the Los Angelas Kings, Vegas Golden Knights or even the Nashville Predators. The Dallas Stars are Central Division Champions for the first time since 2015-16 after defeating the Seattle Kraken over the weekend. The Dallas Stars were shutout by the Winnipeg Jets 3-0 and one of the bigger storylines from the game was Nils Lundkvist. Lundkvist played a team least 8:43 seconds and only had a couple of shifts in the 2nd period. The Stars were essentially playing five defensemen, and when Pete DeBoer was asked about it, he gave an answer that may leave the impression Lundkvist is not a part of their playoff plans. Joey revisits the conversation and gives his updated opinion on Nils and why his time may be done with the Dallas Stars. In the second segment, we have an update on Stars prospect Lian Bichel who left the AHL to go back to Sweden to play in the SHL. His team Rogel BK has gone on a 13 game winning streak and our in the SHL finals. He's playing big minutes and that is a great sign for Stars fans everywhere. To wrap up today's episode, we discuss General Manager Jim Nill and his recent call to help out with Team Canada for the 2026 Olympics. He will serve as the Associate GM for the 2025 NHL Nations face off as well!

The Dallas Stars have an interesting proposition ahead of them when Evgenii Dadonov is healthy enough to return. Pete DeBoer after practice Wednesday stated he would like to get Dadonov into a game before the end of the season. However, in order to activate him off the LTIR the Stars would have to send Logan Stankoven to the Texas Stars in the AHL in order to free up cap space. Joey opens the show discussing the options the Stars have and how he feels about the possibility of Stankoven being loaned back to Cedar Park. Would you do it if you were the Stars? The focus at hand for tonight is the Winnipeg Jets, with a win the Stars would win their first division title since 2015-16. The Stars have beat the Jets in each of the first three meetings and will look to sweep the season series against a Jets team that has won four straight. To end the show, we bring back Shooting Star! Joey goes with Roope Hintz tonight who has a modest 3 game point streak and a couple of goals in his last three games.

The Dallas Stars beat the Buffalo Sabres 3-2 for the 50th win of the season. It's the fifth time in Franchise History the Dallas Stars have hit the 50 win mark. Jake Oettinger won his 8th start in a row after notching 19 saves in the game and was real sharp after the 1st period. Wyatt Johnston, Joe Pavelski and Jason Robertson were the goal scorers in the game. Thomas Harley picked up two assists as well. Joey breaks down the game and then talks about the outlook of the Stars with the Stanley Cup playoffs right around the corner. The Stars have a chance to clinch tomorrow night if the beat the Winnipeg Jets in regulation. Dallas has a comfortable lead with three games to go and it looks like they could be on a collision course with the Vegas Golden Knights in the first round. Joey gives his thoughts on that matchup and other possibilities that remain as the season closes next week. To wrap up the episode, we have a status update on Stars forward Evgenii Dadanov and defenseman Jani Hakanpaa. They are both proggressing and could even join team practice today!
