Goofy stories, incredible cross-fading

Philip Merritt's marvelous audio drama, LOST IN WILLIAMSBURG, is not only a quiety vivacious and subtly fun audio drama blending history, college campus comedy, and ghost stories, but, unlike many audio dramas out there, it uses Altmanesque overlapping dialogue in a wry and artistic way. There are many clever jokes about Williamsburg, but never at the expense of this sprawling cast of characters. I also love the way the tone often changes from episode to episode, but never at the expense of the show's feel, sometimes veering goofball and other times getting a little serious. There are musical numbers. I also love that the show is quite cavalier about ghosts, treating them as no big deal even when they have a sizable effect of the narrative events. Listen to this gem from the beginning. It's an audio drama that has very much inspired me as a producer.

I love this podcast! For those living in Williamsburg, it's full of inside jokes that poke gentle fun at the town, its institutions and mindset. But the jokes are subtle enough to not distract people who don't live here. The plot is a lot of fun, the characters are fantastic, the writing is smart, the acting is surprisingly good. I can't wait for more episodes.
