Episode 23 “The Preview That We Do”
Marna and Martin's 24th podcast episode contains material on the newly previewed z/OS V2.4 release. Marna briefly talks about z Container Extensions (zCX), the z/OS Upgrade Worfklow, more on Pervasive Encryption, zFS enhancements, and MCS logon passphrases. Martin discusses Async CF Structure Duplexing now he has one customer's data from trying it. There is plenty of instrumentation, and he recommends planning and testing for exploitation. The Topic is the advantages and disadvantages of using a smart home thermostat, or remote oil tank sensor.

Marna talks about two helpful enhancements to z/OSMF Operator Consoles. Martin takes a closer look at paging susbsystem design in the age of Flash. Both compare and contrast good apps on mobile phones and on z/OS.
Episode 21 “Fits and Starts”
Marna and Martin discuss using SMF records to look at Dynamic APF changes (post-IPL), some curious DDF "pauses" on transaction arrival rates, and using fitness tracking devices to keep track of your activity and sleep.
Episode 20 “Two Is One And One Is None”
In this episode Marna covers the much-desired zfs shrink command in z/OS V2.3. Martin discusses looking at customer data and recommends CPENABLE settings both with and without HiperDispatch. Then, the problem of how to archive family data is debated and how important it is to have it stored in multiple locations and have a plan for passing it on.
