This Is Why Your Meetings Suck (with special guest, Vaughn Sigmon)

This Is Why Your Meetings Suck (with special guest, Vaughn Sigmon)

We have all sat through them. Those monotonous, ineffective, inefficient, soul-sucking meetings. They are generally led by someone who for the most part, spends the entire time talking just to hear their own voice while the team sits in a stupor staring blankly at each other. Afterward, the company wonders why nothing impactful came of all those meetings. Not to mention the horrendous cost of lost man-hours with nothing to show for it. The truth of the matter is that running an effective team meeting is not a skill that simply comes with the title. It is in fact a leadership skill that takes time and effort to acquire.

Vaughn Sigmon is the co-founder of Results Driven Leadership. An organization that provides leadership training for executives, managers, and sales leaders. Vaughn has an extensive career in both managing and training hundreds of top executives in Fortune 500 companies. Vaughn joins Rich and Maikel to discuss the importance of holding effective meetings and how they can drive success in your organization, or hold it back.

HR Does Not Mean Home Room

HR Does Not Mean Home Room

Why is it that in so many organizations, HR is viewed as the villians and not employee advocates? We all have the tendency to divide up the world into two groups: Us and Them. It's easy to make HR people the enemy; however, is it because perhaps in some instances, they are? Is it possible for a few bad apples in the HR department to give the whole HR profession a bad name? Or is it that too many executives lead HR, if they lead it at all, through fear rather than trust. They focus on keeping payroll costs down and keeping "employee issues" to a minimum, instead of setting ambitious organizational cultural goals and then hiring brilliant people to help achieve them -- and letting those brilliant people do their jobs!
Over the next few episodes, we are exploring the reasons why HR can be viewed not only as the villians of the organization, but also as leaders and employee advocates on Mainline Executive Coaching ACT.

Leaders, Do You Have a Team Crasher?

Leaders, Do You Have a Team Crasher?

If you work as a part of a team, or as a team leader, you will encounter various challenges that might result in conflicts with other employees. One of those challenges can be when another team member continuously offers to complete tasks for which you're responsible, they may be trying to take over your work. Working in a team requires that each person consider other members' needs, strengths, and limitations. Occasionally, some people fail to do that, which may result in them taking over other people's work, or worse, the team itself.

Rich and Maikel talk about the team crashers who, for whatever reason, are oblivious to the team boundaries. Join us on this episode of Mainline Executive Coaching ACT

A Conversation with Platinum Elite Executive Coach, Sue Ryan

A Conversation with Platinum Elite Executive Coach, Sue Ryan

As executive coaches, it is critical to establish a starting point in order to be effective in helping the client develop their leadership styles. After all, prescription before diagnosis is malpractice. In order to establish this starting point, we use an assessment called the Mattone Leadership Enneagram Inventory or the MLEI. What is the MLEI, and how will it forever change your view on leadership development?

Rich and Maikel welcome Sue Ryan to the podcast today to discuss the MLEI. Sue is the Director of Intelligent Leadership Coach Certification & Education for John Mattone Global and a Platinum Elite Executive Coach. Sue is also a Speaker and storyteller, an educator, mentor, author, and caregiver. Her knowledge and expertise span a career of more than 40 years.

Join Sue, Rich, and Maikel as they discuss the MLEI, and why it is a critical, must-have step in your leadership journey.

As a Leader, are you Stoic or a Victim?

As a Leader, are you Stoic or a Victim?

From famed Roman Emperor Marcus Aurelius to the beloved United States President Teddy Roosevelt, some of the most successful leaders throughout history have all shared something in common: a belief in stoicism. This philosophy has become a time-honored one among leaders because its core tenants resonate deeply with the pursuit of excellence, greatness, and success. Motivated leaders latch on to stoic principles as a way to guide themselves, during both good times and bad.
However, there are those that instead of practicing stoicism, defer to playing the victim card. So which type of leader are you?

Rich and Maikel discuss what a stoic leader is on this episode of Mainline Executive Coaching ACT.
