The 2003 Mixtape
The first in a series! Morgan and Zac get together to each select 10 songs from 2003 to create a mixtape that represents the best and most on-brand (for us) songs of the year.
I don't want to put the list of songs or a playlist in the video info yet because I think it's fun to listen along. But if you look back at this podcast in a couple of days I will edit this description to include one.

trouble at the end of the day
this episode was recorded w/ friend of the pod tom -- a while ago. it was actually the first mixtape interview, before it was even a done deal that the podcast was changing over to this format more or less permanently. it was recorded a couple of days after i released an episode called "document drama/quarantine the past" and toward the end, we talk about it.
tom's mixtape
boys of summer - don henley
echoes - pink floyd
for sure - future island
late night - ODESZA
all for the best - thom yorke
my girls - animal collective
our house - CSNY
additional songs
boys of summer/what you need (zl mashup)

itchy trigger finger but a stable turntable (guardians 3 mixtape)
as of today, august 2nd, guardians of the galaxy volume 3 is on disney+ (at least in the usa), which seems like a great time to drop me and morgan's conversation about it from back when we'd both recently caught it in theaters. watch the movie, come back here, listen to our chat. or whatever, i mean, do what you want. it's a free country.
episode includes the following mashups/songs
"i'm always chasing rainbows" - alice cooper
"solsbury hill" - peter gabriel
"solsbury hill/big bank" - peter gabriel x yg (zl mashup)
"dog days are over" - florence + the machine
"dog days are over/the hillbillies" - florence x baby keem (zl mashup)
"king kunta/come and get your love/encore" - kendrick lamar x redbone x jay z (zl mashup)
"that's right" - girl talk (spacehog sample)
"i'm always chasing rainbows" - jazz piano
"no sleep till brooklyn/sweet home alabama" beastie boys x lynryrd skynyrd (zl mashup)
Customer Reviews
The Last Podcast is good at being a podcast
I’ve been following Zac for years, and have come to a place that I feel genuinely confident in saying he is precisely one of my dearest long distance acquaintances.
Zac is a true artist; he plays within many mediums, but I’ve never seen this amount of effort and true dedication. Though his video work, (my first love), is so wonderful and brings me such joy, this podcast feels like a whole new caliber of brilliance. Each installment is worth your time, and following Zac’s thought process and journey through an episode is always entertaining and rewarding. His unique perspective is so sharp and witty, and you can sense his real care and kindness about whatever it is he points his lens at.
Add this podcast to your roster, you won’t regret it.
Genuine to its core
If you’re looking for a podcast that cares deeply about media and portraying the human experience in all its varied forms then the Last Podcast is for you. There is an obvious amount of thought and insight that goes into each episode which is wonderful, but it’s not the only thing that keeps me coming back. Each podcast is filled with joy and a passion for creativity that is infectious, even at its saddest points. It’s a testament to life’s abundant creative jumping off points, and a reminder of the accessibility of this medium if we’re brave enough to open up and reach for it.
The Best Podcast
Bold, unpretentious, hilarious, adventurous, as comfortable grounded in local issues as in the most urgent matters of the heart, The Last Podcast deserves your full listening attention. No other podcast can offer such an earnest, intimate, and rewarding experience of creativity and drive. Also it’s really really funny!
