Music Minisode: Aaliyah "If Your Girl Only Knew" (1996)
We’re shaking things up today with a surprise music video minisode! This time, we’re taking it back to 1996 with the one and only Baby Girl, Aaliyah. "If Your Girl Only Knew,” penned by Missy Elliott and Timbaland, was the first single off her sophomore album, One in a Million. Blaire breaks down this transformative era in Aaliyah’s career, and how this video was a true makeover moment for Aaliyah in more ways than one. On the fashion side, she began to come into her own sense of style, pairing her signature tomboy vibe with midriff tops and belly chains. Then, Marie talks about how stylist David De La Cruz fitted Aaliyah in a leather motorcycle mama look, and the crème de la crème accessory, the Vivienne Westwood armor ring, which is, of course, a serious obsession on this pod. Tune in now to enjoy this 'lil quickie!

Bandage Bodycons and Dirndl Dresses in Miss Congeniality (2000)
Welcome back to the show! We’re kicking off our new era as Makeover Montage with a real gem: Miss Congeniality. The 2000 comedy stars our girl Sandra Bullock as a special agent who has to step into the (high) heels of a beauty pageant contestant to track down a serial bomber. Costume design is by Susie DeSanto (13 Going on 30, Bad Girls, Nashville). We talk about the famous lavender Hervé Léger bandage dress that Sandra wears the moment she transforms into Gracie Lou Freebush, as well as other favorite looks like her dirndl dress and business boudoir, kill-your-husband robe. Other topics include the epic, military-level makeover montage scene and pageant secrets. Plus, Marie guesses Gracie’s zodiac sign for our new segment, and Blaire talks about her obsession with Make it Mini foods.

Teaching Mrs. Tingle (1999)
Big news! It’s our last episode as Fishnet Flix, so we’ll be taking a break for the month to gear up for our relaunch and new name. But before we go, we’re putting another late ‘90s teen thriller notch in our belts with Teaching Mrs. Tingle. First and foremost, in this episode we learn that Blaire is, in fact, a Teaching Mrs. Tingle scholar. Costume designer Susie DeSanto put Katie Holmes in goodie-two-shoes button up shirts and Helen Mirren in brilliantly tailored blazers and silk pajamas.
Marie peruses eBay and finds tons of screen worn costumes from some of our favorite flicks, and we also talk about Dame Helen Mirren’s penchant for stripper shoes, Aerosmith’s iconic Get a Grip music video era, and predicting characters’ zodiac signs.
