Malpractice Insurance: What Every Doctor (and Trainee) Needs to Know

The DOCTORGOALS Podcast

Malpractice insurance. Two words that may sound boring but are incredibly important for every doctor and trainee to know about. There are certain things that we have in place to protect our career (and finances) and HOPE that we never have to use it. But unfortunatley, many doctors do.

About 1 in 3 doctors are sued in their career. 1 in 3!!!

Those are not odds that you want to bet on. It's important to know how to protect yourself and it starts with knowing what's in your physician contract.

On today's episode:

  • What even is malpractice insurance?
  • What are the types that you need to know?
  • Which is the "good" one and which is the "not so great" one? (You need to know the difference before you sign the contract!)
  • What you should look for in your own physician contract and why this simple act could literally save you thousands of dollars!

Whether you're years away from your first physician contract, negotiating one now, or already out in practice, this is an important episode for anyone who has or will have a physician contract.
