Welcome to We Wonder: Lent. This is the fourth week of Lent: just as Israel wandered in the desert for forty years, and Jesus fasted in the wilderness for forty days, we are still walking with Jesus toward the cross.

Scripture passage: John 3:1-9

I wonder why Jesus said that his Spirit is like the wind? I wonder what the word-pictures of wind and breath can show me about God?

I wonder why Jesus said that to see God’s kingdom, I have to be born again? I wonder what parts of me need new breath or new life?

I wonder: can I remember being born? Being born is something that happens for us, whether we are ready or not. We aren’t the ones who make it happen. I wonder how God’s new life is like that?

Some of the things Jesus says in this story are a little mysterious. I wonder if I can trust God to speak to me when I hear words that are hard to understand?

This is the fourth week of Lent. I wonder if this season is starting to feel long? I wonder if I can ask God to help me continue to wait and hope, even when Easter feels so far away?

Living God, when you send your Spirit, you create living things; you give new life to the ground, and to dry bones. We will sing songs of praise to you, the Giver of Life, as long as we have breath in our lungs.

In the name of the Father, and the Son, and the Holy Spirit.
