Marriage - God's Purpose and Plan God's Blueprint for Marriage

Marriage - part of God's beautiful creation

Today we consider a Biblical truth about marriage – “God created marriage from the beginning”.

Marriage was God’s intention all along, even until today.

Genesis 2 tells us that God did not want the man to be alone and He created for him a companion, in the man’s image, his equal and yet they were not the same.

When God presented her, Adam exclaimed – ‘Wow this is it!’ and he called her woman.

Genesis 2:24  “This explains why a man leaves his father and mother and is joined to his wife, and the two are united into one”

Let us focus then on this Scripture for a moment. I love it when the Bible interprets itself – this verse is quoted twice in the New Testament, and by two of the best theologians ever.

Jesus in Matthew 19:5 and Paul in Ephesians 5:31, and both refers directly to marriage. We can therefore conclude, that, although we do not find the word marriage in the story of creation, it was fully God’s intention to create marriage, as we call it today.

Your marriage was formed creatively in the heart of God, the Father. Just reflect on this revelation, for a moment.
And let us make it a little personal.

What is the implication for you, as a married couple, to know that God was involved in your marriage from the beginning and even before that?
