Ep. 99: Is This Keeping You From a Happier Marriage?

Curious about the #1 issue I work on with my coaching clients? I haven’t seen anyone else talking about this publicly, and yet it is something that can make the biggest difference between flourishing in your marriage or staying stuck (and having arguments over and over again).

In this episode, I am giving you the essential tools to get what you need from your spouse in the most productive and healthy way. Tune in if you are done with the criticizing and defensiveness from your spouse, and instead desire to listen openly to each other about issues, continue having conversations together, and create greater happiness in your marriage.

    In this episode, you’ll hear:
The role of defensiveness in your marriage (and what defensiveness can lead to)
What a “soft start-up” is and why this is crucial in any marriage to get results
How to start difficult conversations with your spouse so they actually want to continue talking instead of getting defensive and critical
Guidelines to follow when having these hard conversations
What research says about the link between conflict discussions and divorce
Specific examples of how to approach your spouse when experiencing marriage issues

Ep. 97: Unpopular Opinions: How to Navigate Having Different Opinions Than Your Spouse

I’ve been holding something back from you. Something that’s been on my heart for a while, but I didn’t know how to share it until now. As vulnerable as it is, I am opening up in this episode because I know I’m not the only one feeling this way.

Step aside guilt and shame - I’m only allowing room for acceptance and validation of my opinions and feelings from now on.

    In this episode, I’m sharing:
What I am REALLY feeling these days (and why I refrained from sharing this until now)
How to not make yourself wrong for what you are feeling (and what to do when you find yourself spiraling)
The truth about unpopular opinions (and how to accept them)
How to stay on the same team as your spouse (or in any relationship) even when you have different opinions
The one question that will shift your focus toward marriage growth

Great resource for military couples!

So glad I stumbled upon this podcast. Although I’m not in a place to need formal marriage coaching, I love listening to these episodes as a way to get ideas on how I can be better in my marriage and to validate that a lot of what I already do are good strategies. I also love having this resource to normalize the way I feel during the different ups and downs of military life!

Great resource

What an amazing resource. I definitely feel connected with the reality of this show. Thanks for keeping real and caring about the community. Your transparency is refreshing and hopefully will help others navigate being married to military. You are a gift to the community, I’m truly happy that we met.

Changed my perspective

I found this podcast shortly after getting engaged to my partner who is in the Army. He has been away at trainings and I was feeling super alone and wondering if all that I was going through was normal. This podcast made me feel seen and helped me understand that I am completely normal! The validation I received as well as all of the advice has really helped me wrap my head around this life I am heading into. I have found that I am able to apply much of the tips to my life and relationship and have seen amazing results already!
