fabulous

What makes Rob's teaching so effective, is that he uses history to bring the Bible to life. His understanding of the culture and language of the time, help me to understand God not only in the big picture of life, but also in the small details.

From Rob to Shane to Kent it's been great

I've been following this for some time, harking back to when I went there once during it's early days of being a massive church. Rob Bell was great, Shane was very very good, and Kent was fantastic. I love that different perspectives are explored rather than just the typical mainstream Christian approach, and yet it's rooted deeply in Biblical scholarship, and always heavy on love. Excited to see where the new pastor takes it.

I used to love this.

Andy Soper's sermons make me feel like Rob Bell's sermons did. Unfortunately, Andy has been absent since January, and since then this church has taken what feels like a slow, subtle, conservative turn. What used to feel like openness and warmth and a sense of wonder now feels a little more rigid, literal and dogmatic. I'm a seeker who thought I had found my home, and I'm saddened that I no longer feel like I belong at Mars Hill. It's hard to see this place become just another ordinary church with ordinary sermons.
