This podcast is designed to address topics both within the church and in the culture from a theological standpoint. Since the Bible is authoritative over all the it speaks, we believe that it speaks to every issue. The goal in every episode is to get to the biblical heart of the matter and ask, "what does God have to say?" With this approach you will see that everything is a Matter of Theology.

    Discussion on Hell

    Discussion on Hell

The topic of Hell is often neglected nowadays. People are turned away from the idea that God would actually send people to a place called Hell, so it is either glossed over or never mentioned. In this episode, we discuss the nature of Hell and why pastors must teach on Hell as it relates to the character of God.

    Yet I, a Sinner

    Yet I, a Sinner

The great hymn writer John Newton said as he was getting old in age, "I am a great sinner, but Christ is a great savior." How do you view your sin? How do you deal with your sin? What is interesting is that while we should grieve and mourn our sin, it should also magnify the gospel. Though I be a sinner, being a sinner is a necessary qualification for receiving salvation. At the same time, our receiving salvation is by no means a license to sin.

    The Conversation Chronicles: Forgiveness

    The Conversation Chronicles: Forgiveness

If you follow Matter of Theology on Facebook, then you are aware that Drew and Chris have been doing a video series called, "The Conversation Chronicles." The idea centers around applying the Gospel to the conversation of race in our current cultural climate. This is part four in our series discussing the application of forgiveness. More so, this dialogue also dives into the role of pastors within the church. A role that is often viewed as one dimensional focusing solely upon preaching.

It is our belief that this episode should be posted as one of our podcasts for those who do not follow us on social media. If you would like to see or listen to the previous three episodes, please visit our Facebook page or YouTube channel.

    Courage

    Courage

Have you ever stopped and thought whether or not you have courage? In America, the church is slowly losing courage to stand upon God's word and abandoning the foundation of scripture in order to be accepted by the culture.

In this episode, Drew and Chris discuss what scripture says about having courage. They also look at men throughout church history that exemplified great courage and refused to cave to the pressure and persecution. We hope that this episode is a blessing to you.

    Practical Atheism

    Practical Atheism

The Puritan Stephen Charnock uses the phrase "practical atheism" in order to describe someone who does not deny God, but lives as though God does not exist. We can move this idea ahead to our modern day and we would call this lukewarm christianity.

In this episode, we discuss practical atheism and some causes that would guide a person down that path. It is our hope that this episode blesses you and challenges you to run to scripture, examine yourself, and see if you are living in a manner worthy of the Gospel is Jesus, or are you really a practical atheist.

Really good

The Biblical Inheritance episode was spot on, so well done and explained. However, I didn’t appreciate the making fun of white privilege and laughing about it. It’s damaging to our Christian witness. We don’t have to hold to these ideologies to acknowledge that it’s hurtful to make fun of them.
