Ep 87: Death's Door - Tanzi Killed A Possum (Opossum)

Ep 87: Death's Door - Tanzi Killed A Possum (Opossum)

Corrigan's favorite game! What a pleasure it was to dive into the brain of our dear cohost and find out what makes it tick. Spoiler: lots of death is what makes it tick. Unsurprisingly. Anyway, this game has all the cuteness and death a girl could want so hope you get a chance to play it too. Enjoy!
Lots of tomfoolery in this one but after many distractions the Jason-less crew finally gets into some of the gameplay (21:30) before a delightful round of "What's The Drink? What's The Song?" (1:06:45). Then Ben and Corri take a trip to ye olde Recommendation Station (1:14:00) before ending with talking about next month's game...which will be coming out very soon. Sorry for the tardiness! We're working on it.

Ep 86: Journey - Jerrrrrmileage May Vary

We finally played Journey—one of our longest-awaited games and you should definitely play it. Not to spoil the episode completely, but it's a beautiful game and all three of us (minus one of us) LOVED it, plus it's only like 2 hours long so you don't have any excuses. Get on it! Also this might be our longest MOLMF ep ever, and the first to be longer than the game itself! So yeah. That's fun.
We get into the development after a lot of horsing around off the top (14:15) then very loosely get into the gameplay (30:45) before playing a rousing game of "What's The Drink? What's The Song?" (57:00). After that we get into a rather lengthy (and rambly) segment of MOLMF! In The News! (1:19:30) before unloading all of our recent addictions and binges in a wonderful visit to our dear Recommendation Station (1:39:00).

We're doing a new thing! We're starting the MOLMF Book Club. And no, we don't books, we play games! We're starting with the iconic Nier Automata as a full blown episode, then the following parts of the Nier book club will be released as Side Quests in between regular monthly episodes. Jason was joined by avid gamer and Nier appreciator Dr. Jim Creel.
Hope you get a chance to play the game first, but there's time to catch up with subsequent Nier episodes coming soon!

I like these guys!

It’s nice to hear a pod about retro gaming (and LucasArts specifically) that features semi normal dudes who happen to like a sort of nerdy thing. I’m not a beer guy but their beer-based rating system is clever so I’m just going with it and using it as an opportunity to learn something. I also appreciate the fact that they seem to LIKE these games. So many podcasters have to prove themselves by dunking on beloved movies and games and these guys just love LucasArts games in spite of their weird flaws. Look forward to delving into the catalog.

Now I want to play

I checked out death's door with guest John LaTour. It was a great conversation. They had a lot of cool and interesting things to say about the game. So much in fact, now I kind of want to play that game.

Fun, smart, hilarious, and sometimes thought-provoking

MOLMF is quick-witted and just a solid dive into a games. The brothers and their friends that help host and join are great to listen to—I go to this when just wanting to relax a bit and enjoy banter and simple fun.

And at the same time, this has a whole other depth that I have never really thought about then it comes to games. They have a great way of using games that a story and apply it IRL—or at least to open up a way of thinking about the world around us.

Just enjoyable!
