    64. The Natural Trajectory of Personal Growth is Two Steps Forward, One Step Back

    64. The Natural Trajectory of Personal Growth is Two Steps Forward, One Step Back

On Episode 64 of The Art of Aging Mindfully, I share a valuable lesson I learned in my late 20's from the legendary acting teacher Thurman E. Scott.

Thurman taught me that it was natural, when integrating new knowledge into our daily lives, to make two steps forward (progress, deeper awareness) but to be aware that one step backwards (regression) can be a normal part of the personal growth experience.

In this light, progress is slow, steady, and incremental. We must embrace ourselves lovingly when we fall down, get back up, and get right back into the saddle.

This is the main reason master Patanjali, emphasizes the notion of continuous, uninterrupted practice.

    62. "Fasting With the Seasons: A Journey of Cleansing & Renewal"

    62. "Fasting With the Seasons: A Journey of Cleansing & Renewal"

On episode 62 of the podcast I share the mechanics of my seasonal mind-body cleanse, which I do four times per year, at the turn of each season.

Feeling the Spring Vibes of March, (I wore a t-shirt yesterday while hiking in the forest), I decided to clean house . I rode the wave of the season turning and purged my body and mind with psychedelics and a three-day fast

Listeners can peer into my personal process and then decide to try their own unique structured experiments that can support their own personal development.

Psychedelics and Fasting are not appropriate for everyone, and can lead to negative outcomes for some of us.  Thorough medical screening and clearance are suggested before engaging in both practices. One must also have a strong mindset, and a safe physical setting for engaging in these practices.

Enjoy my personal share on episode 62 of The Art of Aging Mindfully Podcast.

    59. Gleaning Wisdom From The First Verse of The Tao Te Ching

    59. Gleaning Wisdom From The First Verse of The Tao Te Ching

    Welcome to the Podcast Everyone!

On episode 59 I share one of my favorite verses from all of the ancient wisdom texts.

The Tao Te Ching is loaded with great thoughts to ponder.  The ideas and concepts of the Tao Te Ching can easily be correlated back to the yogic tradition, and mirror key concepts like "non - attachment." It's always brilliant to look for universalities in spirituality, across different cultural traditions.

This show is all about experiencing the wisdom of the first verse and first part out of 81, from The Tao Te Ching. I share my reverence for this brilliant work, and attempt to interpret the teachings of Lao Tzu, hoping to inspire an opening in your imagination, and perhaps further study on your part.

Jai is the real deal

I took Jai's yoga classes at JivaMukti in NYC for about ten years. His classes were physically challenging and spiritually nourishing. His dharma talks always gifted me insights to carry with me throughout the rest of my day. I am so happy he is podcasting, because now I can continue soaking up his teachings from afar.
