In our quest for the SOURCE OF THE YEAH, we felt obliged to produce our most positivity infused and affirmation laden episode yet, an endorsement with which we express absolute assurance, conviction, and certitude. 
 
Throughout the history of metal, YEAH has always been (and will forever be) an affirmation of positivity. There’s pre-metal YEAHS, backwards YEAHS, accidental & hidden YEAHS, the ever elusive “YEAH YEAH” (aka “The Double YEAH”), pre & post Black Album YEAHS, the supreme & preeminent Sabbath YEAH, a single worded song title with a single worded lyric which is called (wait for it…) “YEAH”, and believe it or not, there’s even a Slayer YEAH. And oh YEAH, it’s highly likely that our “painstaking research” brought us to the potentially “spellbinding” origin point which may truly be the source of ALL the YEAHS.

Before CORROSION OF CONFORMITY gifted us with their signature “Southern Fried Sabbath” sound, the metal world was first introduced to BLIND, a unique blending of thrash, doom, and stoner metal tempered with heavy foundations built on straight-up Sabbath worship. Clearly a progression from the punk & hard-core centric sound of earlier COC and their maiden voyage into thrash metal territory, BLIND sounds as if Black Sabbath time traveled and came to power in the early 90’s as a modern-day thrash band complete with all the darker, doomier elements that were such an integral part of their signature sound back in the day. Surely, COC’s release of BLIND was pivotal in fostering the resurging popularity of Sabbath’s legendary, groundbreaking 70’s output.
Prepare to receive some sage “exercise” advice and understand why glasses aren’t always suitable for certain situations. Remember to never “fake your fartgasms” and don’t be a “dry handy jacker” after learning what “U.F.C.” actually stands for. Since before the dawn of heavy metal, RELAXERS have been a recurring theme in song lyrics. Whether revered with praise and appreciation or reviled through tales of tragedy and woe, one cannot deny the obvious power and impact RELAXERS have had on heavy music throughout the years.
While there are an endless array of RELAXERS available in the world (both legal and illegal, natural and manmade), there are an equally endless variety of songs about them, so many in fact that we could do an entire episode called “Snowblind” although there’s much more to metal than the not-so-secret South American plant powder for which Black Sabbath “unofficially” named their 4th album and John Pemberton “officially” used in his refreshingly stimulating soft drinks at the turn of the 20th century.
We finally made it to “Nosober November”. Time to get ready to become “unfiltered & unredacted” as you “pass the shortest straw” and follow the bouncing 8-ball while embracing “the darkness inside you” and preparing your blotter for the dropper after you “go and pound some Molsons”. “Sure, God’s all-powerful, but does he have lips? Whoa…”
It was the early 90’s, and the landscape of metal was undergoing a transformation. Hair metal was effectively dead and gone, the popularity of thrash was rapidly approaching its zenith, and ALICE IN CHAINS were well on their way to becoming one of the most recognized bands in the world, thanks (in no small part) to their slot supporting The Clash of the Titans Tour, opening for 75% (or ¾ if you prefer fractions) of The Big Four as perhaps the most obscure, unknown, and “out of place” band on a bill packed with the biggest names in thrash.
 
While ALICE IN CHAINS brought their own unique brand of metal to a brand-new (and oftentimes “highly resistant”) audience as the “odd ducks” relative to their legendary thrash counterparts, AIC’s “baptism by fire” granted them the opportunity to prove their mettle while winning over new legions of metal fans and helping pave the way for the next evolutionary wave of metal which would soon be rising to prominence.
 
Get ready to learn the answer to “Where?” and prepare to get “sucked in” as we unveil the actual reason why glam bands wore make-up and remember why “It’s gotta be clean and it’s gotta be huge” if you “won’t be taking baths this year” whenever you JOIN US for some “third eye gravy” as we go INSIDE THE METAL of a band sharing more in common with Slayer than you’d think and journey to the rainy, perpetually moist, Pacific Northwest (where one might “hunt for some Squatch”) with Seattle’s native sons, ALICE IN CHAINS.

There’s a multitude of reasons why we need time travel technology, but the most pressing one is so we can go back to our high school years and re-discover the NOLA based thrash-groove force of nature known as EXHORDER.
While EXHORDER may be one of the more obscure artists from the thrash metal heyday of the late 80’s and early 90’s, they are undoubtedly one of the most criminally underrated bands of the genre, fortified with an arsenal of precision riffing, breakneck speed, and sheer instrumental mastery that only “the best of the best” old school thrash bands possessed.
