Dave Rosenberg of Deadguy
In this episode, I speak with Dave Rosenberg— drummer of the band Deadguy.
Dave and I talk about the origins of the band, and what they’re up to today.
We reflect on the early days of hardcore, the struggles of tour, and keeping it all together, or not… Dave and I also nerd out over snare drum sounds, his ultra-rare cymbal collection, and his early training under the late renowned jazz drummer, Sonny Igoe.
We also talk about that time Jay Weinberg of Slipknot wore a Deadguy t-shirt and his bandmate Crispy’s particular affinity for Japanese guitar picks... So without further ado, here is my conversation with Dave Rosenberg of Deadguy.

A real treasure
These interviews are great. I’ve heard voices I’ve never heard before but from people whose work has meant the world. I’ve also learned of a lot of really cool projects from people who I am less familiar. The podcast is new to me and it seems there was a gap in production, I hope it continues.
Thoughtful, sincere, and I’m looking forward to more!
I’m glad I found this podcast. Erik’s interview style is approachable and natural and the conversations he has with guests are both thoughtful and engaging. That’s such a hard balance to achieve by any podcaster, and it is very well done here, in my opinion.
As I was listening to the interview with Brandon Evans earlier, I found myself nodding along in recognition of so much of what they discussed. I felt seen. I am someone who shares so much of the same feelings they both do regarding DIY and have had many similar experiences in my own life. What a privilege it is for those of us who are a part of this scene to exist in the same time and place as each other, knowing we understand each other even if we’ve never met before. I am grateful for every experience and every person I’ve met through these shows. Thanks Erik.
New fav
Love how the host lets the people talk unlike some music podcasts where the host incongruently talks about himself the entire time. Great edits, his questions are interesting, and knows how to get the guests talking. Subject matter is niche but right up my alley, so getting a quality pod on this stuff is exciting. SUBSCRIBE!
