There are so many guides out there for how to make a podcast, and for how to make an audio drama. But there’s a difference between reading an article and hearing the reality behind the process.

Scoring Magic follows creators at Hug House Productions as they create fiction podcasts. They’ll share tips, tricks, and resources, but also what it’s like to work on a massive creative project with friends.

Seasons 1 and 2 follow the creation of the 3-season urban fantasy podcast VALENCE. Season 3 will cover an upcoming solo (or mostly solo) project.

Great

Absolutely love how in detail they go into the creation of the podcast. It makes me appreciate Valence so much more.

Super Inspiring

I love knowing how creative people do what they do, especially when it’s tied to specific creative work. This show has so many practical tips, so much honesty, and so much generosity. The hosts talk about specific aspects of creating a new Audio Drama from scratch, and present the lessons they’ve learned along the way as advice to other creators. It’s all super inspiring and often very moving. What a gift.

A How To Guide For Audio Drama

Everyone I know who listens to podcasts regularly dreams of one day creating their own, and that seems doubly true for the audio drama crowd. This show has a relaxed but informative tone that documents the process of putting together an audio drama from the beginning.

Scoring Magic follows the creation of the audio drama podcast Valence as the team works to get that show out into the world, so it will be a real-world workshop where you'll get to hear the end product being discussed. The hosts know their way around podcasting and are putting the things they've learned into one handy feed so you can go back and listen as you work on your own shows.

It's fun, it's informative, and ultimately I think it will make a positive impact on the podcasting community as a whole as everyone will have better tools to make the things we'll all love.
