Okay - would listen to another one if I could

I stuck with this podcast only because there didn’t seem to be another podcast about Firefly that offered in-depth, episode-by-episode analysis. Did I miss them, because if they’re out there, I might prefer them to this.

I try not to pick on the people too much and try to focus more of my criticism on their analyses - but sometimes the hosts can be obnoxious to the point where I have to turn the show off for a breather. (If you’re not a fan of loud laughter - don’t listen to this - sometimes the laughs sounded fake just to tell the audience “this is funny - you should be laughing too”...even when something wasn’t funny.)

Similar to another review listed here, their critique does border on a lot of SJW - and as a liberal-minded (to the point of SJW) myself, even I found myself going, “calm down. You’re reading WAY too much into this...”)

It also doesn’t always appear that they know that episodes don’t always reflect real time (I’m thinking of their critique of “Our Mrs. Reynolds” in particular) and cant seem to fathom how character might change their minds on an issue from scene to scene (...you know, like, how people do.) - if an episode takes place over a larger stretch of time than 42 mins.

They’re constant bombardment on the character of Zoë is also bothersome - because while they seem to try and convey that their critique is with the writing of Zoë - they seem to like the character much more when she’s being nice and romantic with Wash, being a loving wife - but not when she’s a person outside her husband. That really rubbed me the wrong way - Zoë’s a character all her own...you can’t only like her when she’s being nice and wife-ly to Wash.

There IS stuff to like here - I like that they go beyond the TV show and into the script of the episode or talk about BTS stuff and planned story arcs, etc. That alone is kind of what’s keeping me here.

Wish I could give this a better review - I love supporting my fellow Browncoats - but these people just don’t seem to know how to properly critique something beyond “I personally didn’t like this, therefore it’s not a good part of the show”.

Great way...

...to get the most out of Firefly and Serenity (despite the show getting cancelled well before it should’ve)!

Shiny

This podcast is super shiny. Just picture regular shiny, but with a cape.
