Miniature Engineering Craftsmanship Museum and Antique Gas and Steam Engine Museum A Maker Tale

While on holiday in San Diego, I had a chance to visit two great museums. I found two museums about 45 minutes north of the place we are staying.

The Miniature Engineering Craftsmanship Museum is the legacy of Joe Martin founder of Sherline. More info on the museum can be found here http://www.craftsmanshipmuseum.com/ You can spend an entire day looking over the collection and reading the cards. From talking with Craig the director, I got a strong since of the purpose of this museum. To show people what a quality object can be made using small tools. After the interview, I felt a sadness that I could not sit down with Mr Martin himself to talk about manufacturing.

Another visit worth hitting is the Antique Gas and Steam Engine Museum. http://agsem.com/ I was unable to get in touch with anyone to interview but this is for sure another place worth visiting.
