In Modern Ruhles, MSNBC anchor and NBC News correspondent Stephanie Ruhle moderates thoughtful, unflinching conversations around some of the most hot-button issues facing our culture today.
In each episode, Ruhle brings together cultural tour guides—comedians, CEOs, Pulitzer Prize-winning journalists—to weigh in on subjects like privilege, social media, feminism and more.
With some genuine reflection and a willingness to listen to the other side, Modern Ruhles shows it’s possible to have a good faith conversation with people you may not agree with and come out the other side a little bit smarter.

Bonus Episode: More with Shaun Dougherty
Stephanie spoke with advocate Shaun Dougherty earlier this season about masculinity and faith and moral leadership, but their full conversation was much deeper. In this bonus episode, Shaun shares more about how and why advocacy for child sexual abuse victims has become his life’s work, and why focusing our anger at the institutions that propagate harm may be more effective than pinpointing it on the individuals who do harm.

Episode 8: Forgiveness featuring Sandy Hook Promise founder Nicole Hockley and Alice Johnson
We are taught from an early age the importance of saying you’re sorry, and forgiving those who have wronged you. But is there such thing as an unforgiveable act? And who does that impact more – the perpetrator, or the one wronged? In the final episode of the season, Stephanie speaks with Nicole Hockley, who lost her son at Sandy Hook and has since founded Sandy Hook Promise, and Alice Johnson, who served 20 years of a life sentence for a non-violent drug offense before Kim Kardashian worked to get her released. They talk about forgiveness, and whether it is a choice everyone can or should make.

Episode 7: Faith and Moral Leadership featuring academic Scott Galloway, activist Rashad Robinson, and Shaun Dougherty
Capitalism is fueled by self-interest, which leaves little room for morality when it comes to the leaders driving some of America’s most successful businesses. But social media and the rise of Twitter boycotts could be changing that, as consumers hold today’s leaders to a higher standard. In this episode, Stephanie chats with business professor Scott Galloway, activist Rashad Robinson, and Shaun Dougherty about how morality is inspiring businesses to consider more than just their bottom line.

Not a fan
I did not know the host before this so all I had to go on was MSNBC.
I have listened to a few episodes but shut most of them off partway through because I get so frustrated.
I don’t understand how she can have worked in corporate America, in important roles, as a woman(!) and still believe that it doesn’t need a massive overhaul.
I guess overall she just has a very heteronormative view of sex and gender roles, which frankly makes her sound rather ignorant.
Just heard her again talking about how the reason women make less money than men because they give birth, so I’ve decided to call it quits on this podcast for good.
I’m giving it two stars (instead of one) because a female journalist with her own show is a good idea in principle.
