This is Monica the Podcast, a 12 part deep dive into a private joke taken way too far, when two old friends -- Dan and Tracie -- wrote a musical based on the Bill Clinton/Monica Lewinsky scandal, conned Dan's composer brother into writing the score, got their Broadway level friends to perform it over and over in New York in the early 2000s, and accidentally ended up working on it for 5 years.

Episode 11: What Does Garrison Keillor Smell Like?

Special guest Christine DiGiallonardo (of Prairie Home Companion and other Broadway efforts) stops by to talk about her role as Monica, which she played non-stop for five years. The moral of this episode is that you SHOULD go to a great amusement park that closed years ago, and that you should AVOID LIKE THE PLAGUE a New York City hotel that's still very much open to the public. Featuring the song "Before There Was You."

    Episode 10: So Much Epic

In 2003 we had no idea how to write the climax. In 2017, we had no idea how to talk about the climax. Unrelated, did you know that Tracie has birds living in her walls?

Featuring songs featuring Hillary and a ventriloquist dummy, Ken and a beret, and birds living in Tracie's walls.

This is exactly the podcast we need right now

Are you a died in the wool dem? Great! Rejoice and cringe at the antics of 90s politics! Hard core conservative? Great! Rejoice in how poorly bill clinton, previous darling of the libs is has fallen so so low!

My favorite podcast!

I could not love this more! Admittedly, I was a fan of Monica the Musical so it would make sense that I would enjoy Monica the Podcast as well. But I didn't know how much fun it would be to listen to Dan and Tracie tell the backstory along with their collaborators. These are dynamic, hilarious people who I would definitely want to hang out with and by some miracle, they asked me in to do just that 12 times! We are all lucky enough to be invited to listen to their banter, their self-reflection, and their entire creative process from start to finish. Plus the music and lyrics were the exact antidote I needed to our present day political disaster. Monica the Podcast let me relive a sweeter and considerably funnier political disaster with my two newest bffs. Thank you for this Dan and Tracie!

time for a revival

This is absolutely hilarious, and what’s more the music is AMAZING. No matter how close it came to Broadway, it should have gotten there. A must listen!
