57. Coincidence as a Practice with Matt Bull Moon to Moon

    • Alternative Health

This is a very special episode for me as my guest is my boyfriend Matt Bull.

Matt is a Clio-winning writer and creative director, and cofounder of a small but acclaimed advertising agency called Kickstand. His work has been covered extensively, and he was once called an “advertising folk hero of sorts” by Adweek. You might recognize his voice from either his side work as a voiceover artist for national brands or from the viral video of him pranking his daughter (Google Mario kart dad prank if you’re curious). Matt is a dedicated father to 3 teenagers. And he is happiest when he is making something, whether it’s a song, a poem, or a piece of furniture.

In the intro to episode, I share Matt's chart (thank you, Matt, for your permission). Matt is a Sag Rising with Neptune on the Ascendant, a Pisces Sun conjunct Jupiter, and a Gemini Moon.

Then I get into a discussion of The Hierophant from the tarot, and how the card felt important to my desire to bring Matt on the show. The Hierophant is associated with the sign of Taurus, and relates to Taurus's connection to the throat and the vocal chords.

I also share how the framework of the Emergent No - which I introduced here exactly a year ago - is so alive again right now, and how honoring his No has been crucial across Matt's life.

General time stamps:

43 minutes in: interview begins

49 minutes: the first time Matt uses the phrasing "wildly coincidental"

58 minutes: Matt shares about being the son of an ordained minister, Christian counselor, and exorcist of "demon attachments"

1 hour 7 minutes: Matt discusses when and how he began to question the certainty of the frameworks of his religious upbringing

1 hour 17 minutes: how Matt came to embrace the weird and preposterous as part of living with uncertainty (it involves UFOs)

1 hour 31 minutes: how astrology helps Matt feel a wave from the universe and let go of needing direct answers

1 hour 34 minutes: how healing from religious trauma has meant embracing a life-long process of relearning self-trust

1 hour 49 minutes: Matt's growing relationship to the tarot as a space for play, intuition, and practicing coincidence

2 hours: Matt's wildly coincidental stories with the 1st quarter moon and their connections to his own version of Vulture Magic

2 hours 17 minutes: my outro section begins and I share yet another wild coincidence we forgot to mention in our interview

Thank you, Matt, for bringing your whole self to Moon to Moon! I love you so much.

Note for astrologers: I published this episode when Jupiter was exactly conjunct his Sun at Pisces 29'02.
