Presenting a defence based primarily on the word of an accused killer is certainly no easy feat. In fact, it’s almost impossible. It all boils down to whether the jury believes the accused killer or not. In Carlsbad, California, in 2012, an accused killer would claim that she was the victim of domestic violence and had acted in self-defence, but was she really telling the truth…?

Introducing: The Grand Scheme: Snatching Sinatra

Introducing: The Grand Scheme: Snatching Sinatra

Hosted and narrated by John Stamos, The Grand Scheme: Snatching Sinatra is a complicated, nuanced story of one imperfect man trying to redeem himself by pulling off the perfect crime. Did you ever feel like everything’s broken, and it’s your job to fix it? That’s how Barry Keenan was feeling back in 1963. He was broke, unemployed, hooked on booze and pills, and his family was falling apart. Barry needed a miracle. And against all odds, he got one. One day the voice of God came over the radio in Barry’s car and told him there was a simple solution to all his problems: all he had to do was kidnap Frank Sinatra, Jr. For the first time ever, Barry Keenan shares his version of the bizarre story in his own words, from beginning to end. This is just a preview of The Grand Scheme: Snatching Sinatra, but you can listen to full episodes at:

Lawrence is a city of around 75,000, situated near the New Hampshire border. In November of 2016, a teenage boy vanished from his grandmother’s home. CCTV footage would capture him in the company of another teenage boy. His disappearance, and the outcome, would lead to many within the community questioning whether Lawrence police really did their job and whether they had shrugged the teenager off as a runaway simply because he was Hispanic.

    109: Portland Train Attack

When hatred goes unchecked, it can lead to a disaster and tragically, far too often, violent words lead to violent actions. On a busy MAX train in Portland, Oregon, in 2017, a man unleashed a racist and xenophobic attack, mainly aimed at two Muslim teenagers. The perpetrator had been a member of the alt-right movement and had made blatant indications in his words and his actions that he was radicalized. A number of onlookers would come to the girls’ aid but then things took a deadly turn, a turn that would result in innocent people paying the ultimate price.

Consistent and respectful

Emily has a great respect for victims and their families. She finds cases I haven’t heard of and always delivers a great podcast. Her voice is very enjoyable and relaxing. Big fan thank you!

Podcaster’s voice?

Why does this sound like it’s narrated by a robot? It sounds like so much cutting is done in her takes & they don’t blend well together. It’s insanely distracting. Wanted to like this but couldn’t get past that.
