After performing to a sold out crowd in New York City, an all female cast of Tim Rice & Andrew Lloyd Webber’s 1970 rock opera, JESUS CHRIST SUPERSTAR received huge amounts of requests to record an album. First releasing SHE IS RISEN: VOL I to ecstatic reviews and now SHE IS RISEN: VOL II has just been released. I recently had the great pleasure of interviewing two of the producers of the album, Morgan James & Meg Toohey.
Morgan James is a Juilliard trained singer, actress, songwriter, and recording artist in New York City. She just released her third studio album of original soul music, entitled “Memphis Magnetic”, recorded to analog tape in Memphis, Tennessee. Her other albums include”Hunter” and "Reckless Abandon", which prompted the Huffington Post to call her the "Brightest Breakout Artist of the Year". On Broadway, Morgan was in four back-to-back original companies: THE ADDAMS FAMILY (starring Nathan Lane and Bebe Neuwirth), WONDERLAND, GODSPELL, and MOTOWN: THE MUSICAL, and as a guest at Kristin Chenoweth’s FOR THE GIRLS. With viral sensation Postmodern Jukebox and on her own YouTube channel, Morgan’s music videos have accumulated more than 200 million views (and climbing).
Meg Toohey is a three-time Grammy nominated artist, producer, and songwriter. She has collaborated with a wide variety of performance artists such as Sara Bareilles, Jason Mraz, Keala Settle, Jessie Mueller, Linda Perry, Katharine McPhee, Margaret Cho, Lori Mckenna, Duncan Shiek, The Go Go's, Anaïs Mitchell, and, Shoshana Bean. Meg also has a new single coming out on October 2nd titled 'Lucky Streak', which features Sara Bareilles.
