BYU hired Kevin Young from the Phoenix Suns at a faster-than-normal pace. Because of his NBA ties, it’s hard to know what to expect moving forward for the Cougars. Young will stay with the Suns through their playoff run, so the expectation is that assistants will handle recruiting in the mean time. Will Coach Young be able to entice back players like Aly Khalifa or Dallin Hall

UConn landed a big man on Wednesday in the form of Michigan transfer Tarris Reed. This will allow Dan Hurley to continue playing a platoon big man system as he has done the previous two national championship seasons with Adama Sanogo/Donovan Clingan in 2023 and Clingan/Samson Johnson in 2024.

Duke’s Jeremy Roach announced on Tuesday that he is both declaring for the 2024 NBA Draft and entering the transfer portal. His departure makes a Duke team that was already projecting to be young all the younger. How will Coach Jon Scheyer utilize his three open scholarships to help alleviate that inexperience? Where will Roach ultimately land if he chooses the portal route?…it could come down to three Kentucky coaches!

Prize center transfer Oumar Ballo is headed to Bloomington to play for Mike Woodson. It’s a great get for Indiana, but is it the right fit for a team that desperately needs three-point shooting? Indiana also recently landed Myles Rice, who also isn’t a great three-point shooter.

Mark Pope's first press conference as the head coach of the Kentucky Wildcats could not have gone better, helping raise the vibes in Big Blue Nation. Support from former UK coach Rick Pitino didn't hurt either, and it sounds like Kentucky and Saint John's will square off at Rupp Arena this season in what should be a huge treat for folks in Lexington.

Kentucky’s brand new head coach Mark Pope held his introductory press conference on Sunday afternoon. By all accounts, he handled it really well. What happens next? What sort of roster will Pope be able to build? Will he be able (or want) to bring and of his BYU Cougars with him? Aly Khalifa? Will any of the Kentucky players in the portal come back to Lexington? Aaron Bradshaw? Adou Thiero? Will any of the incoming freshmen recommit or stay committed?

Heading into the offseason, Duke was way over budget on scholarship commitments for next season. Following a few transfers, notably Mark Mitchell, and now Kyle Filipowski and Jared McCain entering the NBA Draft, the numbers are in a much better place for Jon Scheyer.

Mark Pope is officially the new head coach for the Kentucky Wildcats, replacing John Calipari and leaving Big Blue Nation caught off guard. Can the former BYU coach and UK alumnus recruit well enough in Lexington to lead this program back to the Final Four? On Thursday morning, Scott Drew officially and publicly turned down Kentucky to stay at Baylor. Dan Hurley once again affirmed his desire to stay at UConn, despite the Wildcats’ willingness to drop a very large bag. Why would they choose to do so?

Meanwhile…where does AD Mitch Barnhart turn next? Does he wait on Billy Donovan to finish? Or does the need to get active in the transfer portal speed up the process?
