We’ve Made Science an Idol at the Expense of Common Sense (+ Thoughts on the Red 3 Ban)

Science is a beautiful thing. God created it. BUT in many circumstances we obsess over the science, at the expense of using our common sense to make decisions for the health of our families. Listening to eight podcasts, reading a book or two, and pulling all the research articles for any given health matter simply isn’t realistic for most of us. If you are a hobbyist data digger, like myself, then by all means go for it! But in most circumstances we need to lean more heavily into the discernment of the Holy Spirit and the reality of common sense. When Jesus left His disciples to go be with the Father, He promised us the greatest helper of all… the Holy Spirit! May we recognize the power of knowledge that the Holy Spirit offers us and may we also lean into the gut instincts that God gave us as well. In this episode we discuss finding the right approach to making health decisions for your family and we also dive into the recent red dye 3 ban. I share an overview of the reason for the recent ban and my thoughts on the matter. 0:00 Introduction 1:50 Prayer 2:34 The red 3 ban inspired this episode 4:33 What the FDA.gov site says about the ban 6:03 So why the red 3 ban from food now? 7:33 Is this ban significant? 13:18 Let the Holy Spirit lead 17:45 Leaning into common sense 19:19 Using science to our decision-making benefit Scriptures referenced in this episode: John 16:13 John 14:26 2 Corinthians 3:17 Links to other resources mentioned: FDA.gov Description of Red 3 Ban CSPI: Red 3 Ban To Dye For Documentary website Know that you can always reach out with prayer requests or listener questions by emailing me at movedbyhimpodcast@gmail.com (or message me on Instagram at @movedbyhim_)! 10 Things I’m Doing to Recover From My 2nd C-Section

Want to feel like yourself again post c-section? Then this episode is for you! I'm sharing the 10 things that have been a game changer in getting back to feeling like myself, following my second c-section. I went into this recovery with the aim of doing some things differently than last time, specifically with my exercise and nutrition. As a certified pre and postnatal trainer and nutrition coach, I pray that this episode brings you helpful tips and encouragement. Remember to both rest in the Lord and the gift of your sweet babe in this season, while taking the action steps you are called to for good stewardship of your body. 0:00 Introduction 1:56 Prayer 2:55 Wanting to get back to feeling like myself 4:25 Connection breath work + pelvic floor activation 8:46 Easing into exercise with walking + stretching 13:37 60 second cold showers daily 15:28 Scar desensitization/mobilization 16:41 Drinking enough water 17:56 Eating nourishing, whole foods 20:03 High protein, lots of micronutrients + limited grains 24:21 Consistency with supplementation 26:39 Spending time with God while nursing 29:57 Doing something life-giving Scriptures referenced in this episode: James 4:8 Links to other episodes mentioned: Birth Story: When a 40-Hour Labor Leads to a 2nd C-Section What One Year of Baking Sourdough Bread Has Taught Me Links to other resources mentioned: Helpful information on the pelvic floor Know that you can always reach out with prayer requests or listener questions by emailing me at movedbyhimpodcast@gmail.com (or message me on Instagram at @movedbyhim_)! My Testimony: The Power of The Christmas Story

God is good. And this season always has me reflecting on that for an even deeper reason - because I gave my life to Christ, after hearing the Christmas story, 10 years ago. In this episode I share my testimony and the power of the Christmas story. A simple Christmas cookie decorating event, hosted at my college sorority, brought me from a self-centered life to a Christ-centered life. On a mission to succeed and impress the world, yet wrought with anxiety, I bawled my eyes out after hearing about the hope that Jesus offers us. I knew I needed Him. Join me for my own story and lots of reflection on the scriptures that share the story of the birth of baby Jesus. Whether you have been walking with the Lord for many years, or are seeking answers to hard life questions, I pray that this conversation full of scripture is encouraging! 0:00 Introduction 4:02 Prayer 4:45 My testimony - where it all began in childhood 6:53 Living for myself in my college years 9:30 Called to coaching before even knowing God 11:53 Fearful of failing as an adult 13:38 The Christmas story brought me to Christ 14:40 People had been planting seeds for years 17:17 The Christmas story 23:25 The best decision you can ever make Scriptures referenced in this episode: Romans 8:28 Luke 1:26-38 Luke 2:4-12 Romans 3:23 John 14:6 Links to other episodes mentioned: I Changed My Mind: Yoga Know that you can always reach out with prayer requests or listener questions by emailing me at movedbyhimpodcast@gmail.com (or message me on Instagram at @movedbyhim_)! Food Activists Are Calling Moms to Boycott Kellogg’s Cereal - So Should You?

Did you know that Canadian Froot Loops are colored with watermelon, carrot, and blueberry juice, turmeric, and other natural sources, while American Froot Loops contain Red 40, Yellow 5, Yellow 6, and Blue 1?? Kellogg's seems to have no issue filling American children with health-altering chemicals when they make the exact product with better ingredients for other countries. So is it time to vote differently with your dollar and improve the health of your family? The Kellogg's boycott is a hot cultural conversation in the nutrition world right now, as tons of big-name influencers and activists are taking a stand against their use of BHT and artificial food dyes in kid-centric cereals.  Join me for a conversation on where this all began, what to consider for your own family, some great alternatives (both whole food and cereal aisle options) if you want to ditch the Froot Loops, and some key considerations on how God fits into the picture of your food decisions.  0:00 Introduction 3:30 Prayer 4:19 Background on the recent Kellogg’s protest 7:59 How Kellogg’s responded 9:49 The call to boycott Kellogg’s 10:51 The health concerns with BHT and food dyes 12:29 America has some of the most lenient FDA restrictions 14:48 Kellogg’s brands to boycott 15:44 Reasons to join the boycott 18:29 Alternatives to Kellogg’s breakfast cereal 22:04 How does God fit into your food decisions 26:10 Do you need to make some changes to your breakfast routine?
