Movies. Trailers. Trash. We talk about all three to varying degrees.

    Good v. Evil, Part II

    Good v. Evil, Part II

During this quarantine, Bethany and I find our selves watching and discussing movies, their themes and their actor’s faces. This 3-part series is going to look at one of the most commonly used movie themes of all time, Good vs. Evil.

We will use these 3 episodes to celebrate and criticize the Good vs. Evil model along with spotlighting some movies that have done it well, but not perfectly. In the next episode, we will discuss some movies that feature a more nuanced approach, a grey area of a villain. A villain that has a motive that is more understandable, a villain that was unexpected or even a hero whos motives are questionable. In the third and final episode, we will take some of our favorite Good vs. Evil movies and attempt to slightly tweak them (shout out to the Film Tweakers podcast) to make the villains a little bit more complex.

In this episode, we will talk, ramble and stumble over the underlying themes and motives of some of our favorite movies that feature villains who occupy more of a grey area of evil. Villains who are sympathetic or understandable. Villains who you would never expect before the very end of the film.

Please subscribe to our podcast on Apple Podcasts or Soundcloud to get an episode every week to hear what we have to say about all the new movie trailers. Also, be sure to keep checking our website so that you can enjoy all the articles, blog posts, and podcasts we have to offer.

You can also follow us on Twitter and Instagram so that you will be the first to know when a new blog or episode is released. Remember to leave a review and rating if you like the show, that’s the best way to get other people to see us, which we know is your main concern.

We’ll discuss the disturbing size of the kids in Honey I Shrunk The Kids, why an atheist might inherently dislike The Lord of the Rings and why our podcast is no longer “thick” with content.

    Soul Trailer Review

    Soul Trailer Review

Soul is directed by Pete Doctor (Up, Monster’s Inc., Inside Out) and Kemp Powers (Star Trek: Discovery) and written by Pete Doctor, Kemp Powers, and Mike Jones (Incredibles 2, Coco). Soul is the first Pixar film with a black lead character and is about the untimely death of music teacher and aspiring musician, played by Jamie Foxx (Ray, Baby Driver). However, this is only the beginning of the film as his soul makes his journey through the afterlife. There he meets another soul, voiced by Tina Fey (30 Rock, Mean Girls), and spends the rest of the movie trying to not only get back to his body but also to show Tina Fey’s character that life is worth living.

    Black Widow Trailer Review

Join us as we talk about the final trailer for Black Widow. In this episode of Movie Trailer Trash, we discuss the irony of International Woman’s Day being placed on a day with one less hour, what sound a Godzilla makes, the greatness of David Tennant’s Purple Man, who the heck the Taskmaster is, and how Disney/Marvel has screwed up their women-led films.

This podcast is a tasty treat

Fantastic podcast! These two strike a great balance. It’s witty banter, sure; but there’s real substance there. You get the hamburger, not just the French fries. Super interesting to see how our expectations shape our movie-going experiences

Very entertaining show that really only has one problem… it ends too quickly! Cannot wait to hear their opinions on new trailers coming up. I also think they should do a follow up show on movies they see, if they enjoyed them or not!
