    Inception

    Inception

In this week’s episode of Movies That Make Us, Tracy, Val, and Jake discuss the Christopher Nolan Film, Inception. Probably his most well received film, maybe even his masterpiece, Inception still has people talking.
We discuss where Interstellar fits in with the rest of the Christopher Nolan films out there. Is this one the best? Our team weighs in and answers that question. And they enjoy the comments from listeners like you as they discuss it.
We also discuss the music of Hans Zimmer in this film as well as other films he has done. How does music affect the feel of the film and the story being told?
What do you think of Inception? Do you have a suggestion for an upcoming episode? Did Tracy say something you disagreed with? You can send all of that feedback to podcast@moviesthatmakeus.com.

    School of Rock

    School of Rock

In this episode of Movies That Make Us, Tracy, Val, and Jake are discussing the 2003 classic- School of Rock! This movies is so entertaining, so perfect, and so well played by Jack Black. It has aged so well, and seems to get funnier with time.
Except when you’re a parent- I mean it’s still funny, but what Jack Black does in this film is terrifying. And probably illegal. But somehow we still love it, and we are rooting for him all the way to the end. Because he’s Jack Black and he is adorable.
Join us as we laugh and remember how this movie made us fall in love with Jack Black, and appreciate Joan Cusack, and wish we could have been in the school rock band.

    The Bad News Bears

    The Bad News Bears

Welcome to another episode of Movies That Make Us! This week, we are without Vale, but Tracy and Jake welcome Craig and Alan from Matinee Heroes, as we look at a classic sports film from 1976- The Bad News Bears.
In this episode we talk about this movie that would never get made like this today, why movies like The Bad News Bears and Rocky that were made in the 70s were so different from what we see today- namely, the good guys didn't win- what does it mean to have a moral victory? And we discuss how this film is a template for so many kids sports movies that came after. And Craig comes up with a new college major, hitting university campuses across the country soon- Cinema Archaeology.

    The Last Dance

    The Last Dance

In this week’s episode, Tracy, Val , and Jake are talking all about the new Michael Jordan documentary series on Netfilx- The Last Dance. Each of us remembers this time in the NBA, and lived it first hand, so it was cool to look back on it all.
Michael Jordan was unlike any other athlete the NBA had seen when he arrived in the league. He was bigger than the game, and there are few people who have worked as hard to accomplish as much as he did. This series takes a behind the scenes look at Air Jordan, and it is pretty entertaining at the same time.
Join us next week as we finally cover one of the most requested movies for our show- The Sandlot, with special guests Marshall Moore from Utah Film Commission and Shane Obedzinski from The Sandlot. It is going to be awesome.
What do you think of The Last Dance? Do you have a suggestion for an upcoming episode? Did Tracy say something you disagreed with? You can send all of that feedback to podcast@moviesthatmakeus.com.

My favorite movie podcast

I really like these guys because they are fun to listen to. They are careful to be respectful of disagreeing opinions and they don’t talk over each other. They are funny and give the perspective of someone who is in the film industry which I like because once upon a time I tried to follow that path and still love to hear those things. I look forward to hearing them every week. 👍🏼👍🏼
