    EP9: IDENTITY - Doctor's Daughter

    EP9: IDENTITY - Doctor's Daughter

Often times we think about how a medical career can affect our relationship with our doctor spouse and even our children, but today we get to hear right from the source - the daughter of a doctor. I loved chatting with my childhood friend, Elaina, and her experience as the daughter of an ER doctor. She shares her story about having a flexible schedule to spend more time with her dad, working through the realization of socioeconomic differences in her community, and how this piece of her identity affects her today.
Here's what you'll hear in this episode:
-parenting roles and styles when raising a family
-finding the best fit for your family when having a demanding work-life
-benefits and difficulties with navigating life with a doctor parent
-misconceptions of others about you and your medical family

    EP7: IDENTITY - Enneagram

You know I love talking about the Enneagram but what do all of these numbers actually mean? While I have always enjoyed personality assessments, I truly think the enneagram has been the most helpful tool for understanding my motivations and reactions in life. My chat with Enneagram Coach, Elisabeth Bennett, will give you some amazing information to get you started on discovering your number. When we better understand what is behind our motivations, stress, security, childhood wounds, and self-statements, the enneagram can only enhance the development of our identity.

Run the List 3: Outsider Support for Doctors and Families

Run the List 3: Outsider Support for Doctors and Families

I realize that not everyone who listens to this podcast is the significant other of a doctor, so I was pleased to get this topic idea from a listener who has friends and family members who are in the medical field. I understand that fun and crazy it is to be married to a doctor, it is just as fun and crazy supporting a doctor as an outsider. This episode provides a small sample of ideas that I have found most helpful from those who support my family. We appreciate your generosity and loyalty!
What you’ll hear in this episode:
-Understanding the constant schedule changes and last minute changes-The importance of inviting us to things even if we have to say no-Knowing when and when not to ask medical questions to your doctor friend or family member-Conversations and the impact of asking questions-Why The Popcast by Knox and Jamie gives me life every Wednesday
