Multiracial clients tend to experience more mental health challenges compared to monoracial clients. There are unique challenges we must attend to and be aware of as the population of multiracial people, at about 33.8 million people in the year 2020 according to the US Census, will likely be increasing. Multiracial clients may struggle with incongruent discrimination, racial identity, and experience microaggressions specific to being multiracial.
