Aston Villa Grab Pole Position as Relegation Battle Goes Down to the Wire

Aston Villa Grab Pole Position as Relegation Battle Goes Down to the Wire

Aston Villa's 1-0 win over Arsenal was perhaps Dean Smith's finest moment so far, as Villa's Head Coach. With others capitulating around them, it was a win that sprung Villa out of the relegation zone at the perfect time. Now, can they finish the job?

The MOMS team discuss the happenings at Villa Park on Tuesday night - how Dean Smith managed the victory in-game, while Douglas Luis, Jack Grealish, Frederick Guilbert and Ezri Konsa, all get special attention. Then we discuss the survival picture and what could happen on the last day.

We also look at Watford's suicide mission in sacking Nigel Pearson two games out, Coventry's search for a new home and actresses Natalie Portman and Jessica Chastian's (and friends) football project in Los Angeles.

In Overrated or Underrated? We look back at former Villans Mark Delaney and Charles N'Zogbia.

One game to go folks. Fingers crossed!

Is That It For Villa? After Blowing 'Must Win'

Is That It For Villa? After Blowing 'Must Win'

It was billed as the game Aston Villa had to win to give them a serious chance of Premier League survival. But after a poor miss by Anwar El Ghazi at 1-0 was followed by a late Everton equaliser, is it curtains for Villa's hopes of staying up?

Team MOMS enter into post-match discussion as they lick their wounds.

Aston Villa Seek Unlikely Finish to the Season

Aston Villa Seek Unlikely Finish to the Season

With games fast running out Aston Villa gave themselves a last chance saloon stab at Premier League survival after a 2-0 win over Crystal Palace. It was Villa's first win since January, can they now record back-to-back wins and stay alive?

As well as discussing the events of the Palace game we talk about Villa's new record, Mile Jedinak's retirement, the latest spate of Villa-related racism. We also look at Manchester City's great escape, Wigan woe and next season's TV scheduling.

N.B. This episode's Overrated and Underrated section, will run in the upcoming Everton reaction show.

    Enjoy!

Taking Inspiration from Liverpool to Tackle United

Taking Inspiration from Liverpool to Tackle United

In perhaps their best performance since the restart, Aston Villa gave a lacklustre Liverpool team a game and had chances to open the scoring, until a familiar end to proceedings struck. But are there signs Villa might take something off United?

We provide our reaction to the proceedings at Anfield and look at what Villa can take from the match going into their crucial Villa Park clash with Manchester United. How can Villa have success against the resurgent Red Devils?

We also look at the relegation picture, which Villa are very much in the end game of now.

Aston Villa's Growing Pains on the Pitch Assessed

Aston Villa's Growing Pains on the Pitch Assessed

Without a win in their first four games back after the Premier League restart, Aston Villa are now starring down both barrels of an instant return to the Championship. After a 1-0 loss to Wolves, we look at Villa's increasing on-field problems.

Can Villa find any bite going forward to threaten their next two opponents - Liverpool and Manchester United - games they surely must get something from, if their relegation rivals begin to pick up points.

We also look at the end of W88 as Villa's main sponsor (and the start of...er...Kazoo?), Villa players leaving the club, Liverpool's title win, Neil Warnock's return and a new manager for Northern Ireland in the shape of Ian Baraclough.

In Overrated or Underrated, it's time for Alan Wright and Bosko Balaban to go under the knife.

New to Villa glad for the help

Newish Villa fan. Although Villa may not be a top 6 team MOMS is absolutely taking the cup in podcast world. Pretty sure Dean Smith listens to them but if he doesn’t, he should.

Aston Villa Observations for the Avid Fan

By far my favorite podcast, regardless the topic. David and Co. provide insightful thoughts on all things Aston Villa, ranging from thoughts on the recent match to the infamous Scott Hogan Touch Count Meter™️. Even if you’re not a Villa fan, MOMS will make you contemplate why no one speaks about your club in this light.

Fun, funny, and just the right tone

You can get run-of-the-mill EPL updates anywhere. MOMS takes a different route, specifically with the AVFC view in mind.

The crew at MOMS are having fun, and the podcast is better for it. Their sense of humor is on point, and they understand that Villa aren’t a top-six team (so they have no delusional assessments). A+ work.
